Last week I wrote about underrated quarterbacks in the 2024 class, this week I am gonna write about wide receivers who are underrated. The top wide receivers in the state are Tyseer Denmark Tyseer Denmark 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA of Roman Catholic who is committed to Oregon, and Rico Scott Rico Scott 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Bishop McDevitt | 2024 State PA of Bishop McDevitt. Those players are great players, but we are talking about the hidden gems at wide receiver who can still play at a high level.
Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR Armstrong | 2024 State PA Armstrong. Brown is a huge wide receiver with a 6’2″ who is very dynamic with the ball in his hands. What I like about his film is he can do a little of everything. He is excellent at fade balls. He uses his body well and can go up and high point the ball with the best of them. A 50/50 ball is not that with him, as he uses his size well to go get the ball. He is also very good after the catch. Several times on film he take a wide receiver screen and make a big gain out of it. His film also shows that he can run a lot of the routes and very well. He projects as a Division 1 football player who can play at the CFB level.
Landon Kennel Landon Kennel 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Manheim Township | 2024 State PA Manheim Township. Another big physical wide receiver that can make all of the catches. He is very good at high pointing the ball and making plays on 50/50 balls. His quarterback Hayden Johnson Hayden Johnson 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Manheim Township | 2024 State PA and him had great chemistry and they trusted each other to be in the right spot when the ball was thrown. He was very good at contested catches. He is also very good at different routes. I saw him stop and start on a double move, and stick the foot in the ground on slants. Kennel is a very good player that with a huge Senior year will move up on CFB coaches recruiting board.
Caiden Pines Caiden Pines 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Cumberland Valley | 2024 State PA Cumberland Valley. Pines was a very good slot wide receiver for Cumberland Valley. He runs good routes and has a good burst when he catches the ball ball. He is really good contested catches and usually comes down with the ball. He has really good hands. I saw him catch the ball when it was thrown low or high several times. He is really good at running seam routes or corner routes from the slot wide receiver position. Pines is also a sound blocker who comes down hill and can block linebackers and other defenders well. Pines projects as a CFB player who has a lot of potential and with a strong Senior year should only increase his profile.
Hunter Aquino Hunter Aquino 6'5" | 190 lbs | WR Academy of the New Church | 2024 State PA Academy of the New Church. I am not gonna lie, I never head of this school but Aquino is a very good player. 1st he has great size. 6’5″ is incredible size for a wide receiver. As you expect he is great on fade balls since he is so tall, but what stands out is how fluid he is for an athlete. He can move very well. On his film I saw him return a kick off for a touchdown, which is rare for someone who is so tall. Also he is very good at slip screens and slants as he can angle his body and make the catch. Aquino is a very good prospect that should only get better with more time playing high school football. With a huge Senior year I could see Aquino blowing up and getting several CFB offers.
Ryan Cochran Ryan Cochran 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Deer Lakes | 2024 State PA Deer Lakes. Cochran is a really good prospect at wide receiver. He has great size for the position standing 6’1″ and he shows it by going up for fade balls and making plays. He catches the ball very well. I saw him go down low and make several nice catches. He also is very good at running routes. I saw him run digs, deep outs, hitches, slants and several other routes very well. Cochran route running is particularly well by setting up the defenders then planting his foot in the ground and making a break. Cochran is a really good prospect who should get a serious look from CFB coaches.
Eric Demyun Eric Demyun 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR Episcoal Academy | 2024 State PA Episcoal Academy. Demyun is another tall physical wide receiver in this class. Standing 6’2″ tall he is tall enough to go get the ball and make any play from the wide receiver position. One part of his game that I love is his blocking. He is able to come down hill and blocks linebackers and safeties. The other thing about his film is he is runs good routes. He can run most the routes wide receivers run and runs them well. Lastly he has exceptional hands. I saw him catch all kinds of ball off different routes and platforms.
Gavin Lutz Gavin Lutz 5'11" | 165 lbs | ATH Grove City | 2024 State PA Grove City. An underrated wide receiver who makes a lot of plays after the catch. He is very dynamic after catches the ball. He is really good after he catches short passes and makes people miss. He is also really good on contested catches. He can go up against defenders in tight coverage and make the play. Finally he is also very good at catching the ball in traffic. He has excellent body control and constantly makes the good catch on the ball. Lutz is a prospect that continues to grow and should have a really good chance to play CFB.
Zaire Williams Zaire Williams 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH Cheltenham | 2024 State PA Cheltenham. Williams might be the most underrated prospect on this list. Williams can flat out fly. He is so fast with the ball in his hands and can make people miss with the ball in his hands. He is a dynamic player that you can play at slot wide receiver and occasionally put him at running back as well. He can also return kicks and the kick off team will be holding there breaths. Williams is an elite athlete that can make most defenders miss. He is on the shorter side of wide receivers, but makes up for it with his athletic ability. I expect Williams to be playing CFB next year.
