is a good and versatile athlete. He played as a kick returner, defensive back and as a wide receiver for Cumberland Valley this past year. As a defensive back he has good cover skills and does a nice job coming upfield to make a play on the ball. He is also good tackler in the open field. Pines is also a good wide receiver that can be used in a variety of ways. He can play both in the slot and as a outside receiver. He can also run a variety of routes well and run the ball on jet sweeps. Pines is a talented player and recently picked up an offer from Clarion University. I can see several other Division 2 programs offering him as well.

An underratted playmaker returns to the Eagles for 2023, this is another clutch receiver who always finds himself open when his squad needs him most. Completely agree with Coach Weider’s thoughts below, this kid is a PSAC level player:
Pines was a very good slot wide receiver for Cumberland Valley. He runs good routes and has a good burst when he catches the ball ball. He is really good contested catches and usually comes down with the ball. He has really good hands. I saw him catch the ball when it was thrown low or high several times. He is really good at running seam routes or corner routes from the slot wide receiver position. Pines is also a sound blocker who comes down hill and can block linebackers and other defenders well. Pines projects as a CFB player who has a lot of potential and with a strong Senior year should only increase his profile.

recently. He, as well as any other readers, are well aware of how fond I am of the young man, the second Cumberland Valley prospect on this list. Talking with those in the know, I wouldn’t be surprised if the young man receives late FCS love in the form of offers sometime in the coming months. Even if the ceiling we’ve placed for him is too high, we all know this kid would be a take at the PSAC level. A lot is still yet to be determined, Pines tape, however, is already rock solid.

took Twitter along for his two-month journey visiting numerous schools interested in his talents. Pines visited Penn State, Saint Francis, Bucknell, and Holy Cross all in a matter of a month and a half. If I’m a betting man. I’d imagine the Cumberland Valley athlete is going to make his rounds at college camps this Spring/Summer. If so, don’t be surprised to see him tear up the turf at either WR or DB. This young man has secured a real D1 grade out of us. Pines also self-reported a 4.57 40 time that is going to show at any position he decides to camp at. I expect schools to pull the trigger at these events, circle Pines’ name if on roster.

Two-way player whose skillset and production should place him in the “ATH” pool. Inside and out slot capabilities on offense. Inside and out slot capabilities on defense as well. Even production on both sides of the ball,

provides Cumberland Valley with consistent seam benders that show off the connection he has with CBV’s quarterback. He understands when to break off his routes, when and where he can open up passing windows for his QB. This is the type of wideout coaches and quarterbacks can trust on the field. Solid hands too, they translate over to the defensive side of the football with Pines securing three interceptions this past Fall. His natural hands lead me to believe he’s got a future at wideout at the next level in a similar role he plays now at CBV.
