First up was Woodson’s Quarterback Aidan Dash, this young man is really passionate about his position and his teams chances for 2023.
Carl Frederick: Tell us more about what your off-season has been like?
Aidan Dash: My off-season has been busy. We went back to workouts as a team in late November. Lifting 4 days a week and also doing speed training. I work on my QB craft with skills and drills two days a week. I also have a part-time job at a local shop and work on lacrosse stuff when I can on the weekends (I’m the the starting goalie and my older brother is a lax coach at the school). So as you can see – there’s never any time off.
CF: Give us a few under the radar players on your team, guys we should be keeping an eye on?
AD: There are so many players on this roster waiting to break out. On top of the great players everyone knows like WR Kai Sanchez, WR Themba Chika, and OL Jason Kim. We have some other great players who have gone under the radar like linebacker Matt Darnell, DL/OL Peter Phan, C Matheo Rojas, LBer Nolan Roh, CB Kobe Lofton, RB Gabe Castro, WR David Faulkner, OL Jack Walwrath, and Cam Marks who was hurt last year. And there are plenty of others. These guys all work so hard. I wish I had enough time to name all of them.
CF: Have you started visiting colleges yet, what is your plan after graduation?
AD: I want to play football in college. It’s been my dream since I was a kid playing ankle biters football. I’ve taken a few visits but this Spring and Summer will be a busy one in terms of seeing lots of colleges. I want to get a degree in business. I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so I’d like to continue that.
CF: Playing in the tough Patriot District, who is one team you look forward to playing the most?
AD: I look forward to playing all of the teams in our conference this year. We’ve taken our lumps in this district the last few years. It’s so competitive. The teams are full of great players and great coaches. I feel like if we keep putting in the work the way we are we can do something special. We are returning 10 of 11 starters on offense and returning most of the defense as well. It’s going to be interesting.
CF: Tell us a fun fact about Aidan Dash that our audience may not know?
AD: I’ve played organized football since I was 7 years old. And have played QB since I was 9. During that time I’ve been to camps all over the country meeting great coaches and players from all over. Practiced with Jaylen Hurts at Quincy Avery’s camp in Georgia, worked on drop backs with Jeff Rutledge in Canton, and threw with Spencer Rattler at a QBU camp in Arizona.
Next we have Hayfield All-Conference Defensive Back Sahr Moiwah:
Carl Frederick: Tell us more about what your off-season has been like?
Sahr Moiwah: Right now my off-season has been more of getting my body right again from the injury I suffered before the season started. lifting in the weight room and also focusing on school. Without education and good grades it’s hard to really go or do anything in this world.
CF: Give us a few under the radar players on your team, guys we should be keeping an eye on?
SM: Delante Jacobs , Kenny Christopher, Caleb Henson, Xavier Gibson. These guys are something special.
CF: Have you started visiting colleges yet, what is your plan after graduation?
SM: I have not officially/unofficially visited any colleges yet, but I plan on attending some junior days. My plan after I graduate is to a attend a 4 year college hopefully playing the sport I fell in love with, and achieving goals that I have set for myself in the future.
CF: What do you prefer, being a lockdown corner or a top flight receiver, what is your favorite position to play?
SM: It’s funny you ask because before I started playing corner, I was a committed receiver coming in my freshman year. But, I made the switch my sophomore year and it was a whole new world for me. I’m a defensive guy so corner is my preferred position.
CF: Tell us a fun fact about Sahr Moiwah that our audience may not know?
SM: A thing about me is that off the field I’m a cool, calm, chill, quiet guy who just does him. I’m also Sierra Leonean.
Up next is Edison star defensive end/safety/linebacker Quincy “Sledge” Ehuman
Carl Frederick: What has the offseason entailed for Quincy “Sledge” Ehuman
Quincy Ehuman: I’ve been changing my diet to lose fat and put on the muscle in the weight room. Also doing basketball to help with my agility and quickness in hopes to get faster and improve mobility.
CF: Give us a couple of under the radar players on your squad?
QE: Elijah Williams– qb
Andreas hill -wr /db
Elijah Davis -LG
max Evan’s -RG
CF: How have the college visits been going for you?
QE: I’ve gone on some unofficial visitors to low end and power 5 schools this past year and look forward to going to more this spring and camps in the summer. I plan to play d1 football following my graduation.
CF: Who is the one opponent you circle on your schedule?
QE: After a heartbreaking loss last year to our rival hayfield and not being able to play because of injury. I look forward to playing them week 7 and cementing being number one in the district
CF: Close us out with a fun known fact about the Sledge?
QE: I cannot swim lol
