However, the high-end talent in New York seems to be at an all-time high and there are several recruits who are getting really quality FBS attention. Check out what players in our Top 20 you need to keep your eyes on headed into this offseason and next fall season.
Colin Cubberly Colin Cubberly 6’6″ | 310 lbs | OL Arlington | 2024 State NY is the #1 offensive lineman in New York and was absolutely in contention to be the #1 overall player. Cubberly is getting some serious national recruiting love with offers from Wisconsin, Indiana, Appalachian State, West Virginia, Duke, Syracuse, Boston College, Texas, Rutgers, Temple, UMASS, UCONN, East Carolina, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte. Cubberly has an incredible frame at 6-5, 305lbs with the space to fill out even with muscle. Cubberly was one of the most dominant blockers in the state and his fundamentals are a whole level above what we usually see at this level. Cubberly moves really well and can be used in space or as a lead blocker pulling and is one of the best finishers I have seen at this level. Cubberly not only is the #1 lineman this season but I think is the best OL coming out of New York in past several years.

Caden Brown Caden Brown 6’4″ | 215 lbs | LB Erasmus Hall | 2024 State NY is the most dangerous pass rusher in New York and the gap is not particularly close. He plays on an incredible Erasmus Hall defensive line that features a few other ranked studs in Aaris Bethea Aaris Bethea 6’2″ | 260 lbs | DL Erasmus Hall | 2024 State NY and Malik Person Malik Person 6’0″ | 280 lbs | DL Erasmus Hall | 2024 State NY but Brown is easily the most dangerous off the edge. Brown is incredibly athletic and lean for the position but he utilizes his quickness and really developed pass rush moves to make an impact. Not only does Brown get to the quarterback but he gets their fast. Brown is sporting over 10 division one offers and his recruitment could even get a boost from a strong showing at summer camps or another impactful season. Brown fits the build of a modern day edge rusher but has even more explosiveness than what you expect which is why he is getting looks from some really impressive FBS programs.

Jameer Reeder Jameer Reeder 5’10” | 180 lbs | ATH Holy Trinity | 2024 State NY is one of those players who plays much larger than he is. The RB/LB for Holy Trinity has arguably been one of their most impactful plays over the last two successful seasons. Reeder is so impactful on both sides of the ball and his ability to be a factor while playing such a large share of snaps is something that not many other players in the top 20 can say. Reeder is an incredible athlete but his most impressive trait is his physicality. Reeder is such a tough runner to bring down not just because he is fast but because he is the one delivering hits not getting hit. Reeder runs through weak tackles and always keeps his legs moving forward to push for more yards. As a defender Reeder uses his physicality to fight through blocks and make plays on the ball. Reeder is one of those fearless athletes that every coach is looking for and I think you can expect a big season for Reeder this upcoming fall.

Sebastian Regis Sebastian Regis 6’1″ | 280 lbs | DL East Islip | 2024 State NY is one of the most exciting lineman to watch in New York. There is not a player who has more explosiveness off the snap than Regis. Regis has incredible strength and quickness in his lower half and he has an incredible motor in the trenches. Regis’ ability to win with his initial punch and push opposing lineman back multiple yards on first contact is so impressive. Regis is also a great finisher, he not only disrupts plays and creates chaos in the backfield but he finishes plays and is a really strong physical tackler.

Will Currid Will Currid 6’2″ | 195 lbs | QB Archbishop Stepinac | 2024 State NY had an incredible season in his first full season as a starter sharing no snaps with another quarterback. Currid had 3,294 yards passing and 28 touchdowns for a ridiculouslu high-powered offense at Archbishop Stepinac. Currid shows really solid anticipation and does a good job of getting the ball out quick. Currid is a true pocket passer and does not offer much as a runner but still shows the athleticism to effectively move in and outside the pocket to create plays off script. Currid does a really solid job in the short and intimidate areas of the field with his touch and accuracy allowing receivers to maximize their yards after the catch. The Archbishop Stepinac offense is base on really short passes and tons of screens so Currid has plenty of reps showing his skillset in that area of the field. I would like to see more of Currid stretching the field because in limited reps there was ton’s of promise in his deep accuracy and touch on longer throws. Currid is the obvious QB1 for this recruiting class and there is a large gap between Currid and the rest of the QB field.

Jaylin Ballew Jaylin Ballew 6’3″ | 210 lbs | TE Erasmus Hall | 2024 State NY has some solid FBS interest so far and is is obvious to see why when you put on the tape. Ballew has a really high ceiling as a pass catcher, he is a really good vertical threat as a tight end who can stretch the field but also be a reliable redzone target. At Erasmus Hall, Ballew is featured in an offense that has a run-first approach but he does a fantastic job of utilizing his limited opportunities as a pass catcher. As a blocker, Ballew does a solid job of sealing the edge and can work his way up to the second level. His blocking is not the main strength of his game but there certainly is solid tape of those reps and a really solid fundamental background as a blocker. However, Ballew is being recruited because of those skills as a pass catcher who can stretch the field and I think that Ballew has a really high ceiling.
