Coaches are becoming more adept to putting their best athletes here in order for the best chance of victory. Although they are only midsized schools in the state, the six 3A high schools here in Wichita still pump out excellent athletes year in and year out. Here are five wide receivers that expect to make big splashes throughout Wichita playing for 3A programs.
Fry is a natural talent at the wide out position. He possesses the speed and size to make big catches at the next level of play wherever he is looking to go. He also is a very smart runner, being able to fake out corners with head fakes and making every route appear like he is going deep. He also shows great football IQ on a play that looked like a designed fade to the corner of the end zone, but the DB gave him too much space that he cut in front of him and was able to turn the play into more of a slant. Although he may not keep his arms extended to catch every ball, he has an apparent knack for appearing behind defensive backs before they know it. Both going into their senior years, the Hudson Ferralez Hudson Ferralez 6’1″ | 205 lbs | QB Wichita Collegiate | 2024 State KS / Jackson Fry Jackson Fry 6’1″ | 160 lbs | WR Hesston | 2024 State KS connection is going to be deadly in 2023.

Sticking to good receivers named Jackson, Voth is a pass catcher that does everything right. He has great speed through the seam, keeps his balance through ankle tackles, and has incredibly soft hands that allow him to pull down everything in his catch radius. He has the speed to beat the defense to the sideline, and the feet to get them off balance. He also is very hard-nosed, pancaking corners on run plays and bubble screens. Aside from a torpid cut out of some routes, Voth is a wide out that will change games as soon as he gets the ball into his hands.

Cooper Williams Cooper Williams 6’3″ | 170 lbs | WR Clearwater | 2025 State KS is going to leave his mark on the entire Ark Valley Chisholm Trail this year. Becoming a junior this season, Williams has already proved his hands and speed are up there with the best pass catchers in the state. What is under appreciated about his game though is his hands without the ball. The way he fights off cornerbacks and the slight pushes that get them off balance and incapable of making a play on the ball is elite. Because he is so young, the woes of his play are going to vanish such as his ability to break tackles and to run through defenders grabbing at his ankles and meeting the ball with his hands before a corner has the chance to make a play on either Williams or the ball. Overall I see him taking massive leaps forward and becoming an even larger focal point of that offense.
Jaden Parker
Jaden Parker
Unlike the other receivers on this list, Parker has not quite proved himself on the field. I do think that is going to change come next fall though. Unfortunately for Parker, he was behind several seniors on the depth chart and saw little playing time for the Spartans 8-2 2022 season. Fortunately though, Parker is an athlete and has all the skills to go far. He is very tall and fast, seen through the little football film and the extensive basketball film. Being able to play at the rim like he does, I see no issue as to how he will not be able to translate that success onto a football field. He will get his chance to prove himself this fall, and I see him doing just that for the Spartans.
Donald Collier Donald Collier 6’0″ | 175 lbs | ATH Trinity Academy | 2024 State KS makes a case for being one of the best athletes in the state, much less the city. After only see a few plays, many understand why Collier was able to haul in over 1,700 yards of air travel. The man has burners, plain and simple. He is able to outrun most corners and has the body control to expand his catch radius out tremendously. He dives for balls and makes the entire process look effortless as he glides into end zones for six. The biggest thing I see holding back Collier’s game is his lack of separating moves that is no involved with his speed. He does not really have much footwork or hands to get corners off balance and moving in the wrong direction. If he is able to do so, I do not see how Collier cannot make a run for the best wide receiver in the entire state.
