Offseason work has started for many high school players with aspirations of making it onto a college roster. Some have been hitting the gym and working with trainers, while others have added showcases to their schedules. For the class of 2024, this is the final offseason before a fall filled with Friday nights spent under the high school lights, making this time important for college exposure.
This article will list six players from the class of 2024 who are must-adds to the recruiting radar.
Branham has started the offseason with a bang, snagging the MVP title for the linebacker group at the Prep Redzone Stock UP Showcase in California. He does a fantastic job flying downhill and closing the distance to the ball carrier before securing the tackle and finishing the play. His lateral movements and ability to change direction on a dime are nothing less than impressive. Branham has the size, skill, and mental fortitude required to be a top-tier player with a significantly high ceiling.
Reese is a tall receiver with the speed, strength, and catching abilities needed to be an elite receiver. He is a deep threat that can burn one-on-one coverage, making him a key player for defenses to account for on every play. His physical playing style comes equipt with the attitude of a fierce competitor, which is reflected in how he carries the ball and blocks on run plays. There is no doubt that Reese is next in line as one of the top recruits in the state.
Ciccio is a playmaking receiver who had a breakout junior season en route to a 3A state championship appearance. The speedster is dangerous in space with his quick breaks and explosive acceleration. He is shifty enough to slip past defenders, split coverages, and physical enough to run through would-be tacklers. Ciccio has started to turn heads and garner some college attention, making him a player to add to the radar ASAP.
Latimer had an outstanding junior season, landing him in the spotlight as a receiver to watch. He does an excellent job getting upfield once the ball is in his hands. He is quick off the ball and has explosive breaks and breakaway speed that give him the advantage over the defense. Latimer is a player with the potential to make a serious name for himself as a prospect.
Wright is still a low-flyer on the radar, but he has significant potential to become a valuable recruit for a college program. He moves exceptionally well in coverage as a cornerback with outstanding instincts that help him get into the correct position to make a play on the ball. He does a great job at keeping his eyes disciplined, especially when covering a double-move route. Wright’s athleticism and ability to identify passing concepts are just a few qualities that make a recruit to watch.
Highlights
Guevara is a two-way athlete who fills the role of a change-of-pace running back on offense and a nickel cornerback on defense. As a ball carrier, he is an elusive runner capable of making an entire defense miss with one cut. His acceleration and ability to keep his legs moving upon contact make him difficult to bring down, giving him opportunities to break free for a considerable gain. Guevara is the type of athlete with the skill set to be a productive addition to a roster, including on special teams.
