Gomez-Ricks is one of those backs that always seems to fall forward with a strong lean and powerful leg drive. Has a natural vision that allows him to see spaces that dont look like they are there and sets up blocks with ease. Has good speed that could develop as he grows but right now is more of a down hill power runner. Is not afraid to setup in pass protection and take on blitzing linebackers. Quick first step that allows him to excel in slants against centers and a good first initial move to defeat blockers at the line of scrimmage. Has a strong base that allows him to anchor the center of a defense and strong hand that creates problems for lineman who try to block him without some help. Reads place with efficiency and it allows him to make play at or behind the line of scrimmage. He is progressing in his pass rush with a strong bull rush but will develop a second move as he continues to grow. Quick read steps allows him to consistently defeat and slip blockers making plays all over the field. Explosive lower half that shows good burst to run offensive players down. Has a strong punch that knocks back on coming lineman with a quick shed that allows him to make plays. Has good hip and knee bend that shows up on film showing he will be able to build on his frame without losing his top end speed. Is becoming a better coverage linebacker showing skills that will help him as he develops. Has good timing and anticipation as he grows it will become one of his top strengths.
