The first batch of 2026 rankings on Prep Redzone Oklahoma were released on Monday with the top 25 freshmen in Oklahoma. Throughout the week, we’ll break down prospects throughout the rankings and even a few others that are currently “Watch List” athletes. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on five prospects that have incredibly high ceilings but they are still unproven on the varsity level. A few of these prospects earned some varsity time in 2022, but the best is still yet to come. All five of these prospects could end up being much higher than they are currently slated but for now, we’re going to wait and see.
And we’re kicking off this feature with the ultimate “wait and see” prospect with Bixby freshman Braeden Presley Braeden Presley 6’0″ | ATH Bixby | 2026 State OK . The Bixby standout didn’t play on the varsity this fall but the expectations are incredibly with the young playmaker. Presley is the younger brother of Brennan and Braylin Presley, who each had Player Of The Year seasons for the Spartans. And Braeden is already bigger than his older brothers and was absolutely dominant in middle school. We were excited to potentially see another Presley dominate for the Spartans in 2022 but it appears we’ll have to wait until 2023. The Spartans had a very senior-heavy team but there should be an opening for Presley, who could play a few different positions, to have an impact for the Spartans this fall. Right now, he’s listed as a “Watch List” athlete, and we’ll definitely be watching.
Our next prospect that we want to wait and see on is Stillwater signal caller Conner Quintero Conner Quintero 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Oklahoma | 2026 State OK . And this is an interesting dynamic because he came in at #9 in the 2026 rankings. And what we’re saying here is very simple, he could be higher, but we’re waiting. Quintero moved to Stillwater last summer and got very few reps on the varsity level as 2023 quarterback Gage Gundy Gage Gundy 6’3″ | 200 lbs | QB Stillwater | 2023 State OK led the Pioneers to an unbeaten season and state title. However, Quintero is one of the few prospects in Oklahoma that was already on several college radars before his freshman season even began. He’s routinely one of the top performers in camp, combine and 7v7 settings. But for Quintero to be the top quarterback in the class, and he could very well be just that, we’re waiting to see him do it on Friday nights when the lights are the brightest.

Another quarterback who is currently listed under the “Watch List” tag but could end up having a very high ceiling is Union freshman Jeramiah Ssettimba Jeramiah Ssettimba 6’0″ | 165 lbs | QB Broken Arrow | 2026 State OK . Last summer, all eyes were on the quarterback room at Union as 2025 QB Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK moved over from rival Jenks. And when we checked Union out at various passing league nights, Ssettimba would also impress. But like all three quarterbacks on this breakdown, Ssettimba would be lower on the depth chart in 2022 because of a potential star ahead of him. So we don’t have much to go on when it comes to his evaluation because of playing sub-varsity football in 2022 but we can go off that along with what we saw from him in person last summer. There’s definitely some potential there. And he’s definitely worth a mention and we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on him.
Highlights
Yet another quarterback to keep an eye on in the 2026 class is Choctaw freshman Landon Gatson Landon Gatson 6’3″ | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2026 State OK . The lefty is a very good-looking athlete and from what we’ve heard, he’s also a standout on the baseball field. Gatson, similar to Quintero at Stillwater, already has gotten on the radars of colleges and it’s very apparent that his future is bright. Gatson did get into the game for Choctaw on the varsity level in a few different spots and when he did, man he looked good. So just like with Quintero, Gatson is already within the top ten for the overall rankings. We’re very intrigued about what the future holds for Gatson. It appears that he will be the starter for the Yellowjackets in 2023 but we also know that he could end up being a higher-regarded prospect on the baseball field. Just like any of the prospects in the 2026 class, it’s very early to make definitive statements.
Our final prospect on this spotlight is Edmond Memorial’s Santorrio Boykins Santorrio Boykins 6’3″ | WR Edmond Memorial | 2026 State OK . It seems like the only thing missing from his game right now is real varsity experience. We put on some of his tape that he has available and it’s hard not to be impressed. He has size, skills and can do a lot of things incredibly well. We’re looking forward to Boykins hitting the varsity level because he certainly has the chance to be a breakout player for the Bulldogs when he steps into that new role in the fall. We know that Edmond Memorial’s coaches are very excited about the potential there with Boykins. And it’s easy to see why because there’s a lot to like about his game. But just like with every prospect on this list, it’s still very early in the process and there’s a lot of football in their futures.
