For the class of 2024, this is the final offseason before a fall filled with Friday nights spent under the high school lights, making this time important for college exposure. Many juniors head into their last season as known prospects by college programs, while others are still putting in the work to get onto the radar.
This article will take a brief look at six tight ends from the class of 2024 who are must-know players that should be on the recruiting radar, especially for in-state schools.
Johnson had a breakout season during his junior year, ending with a 5A state title and real estate in the spotlight. He is a well-balanced tight end who is explosive off the ball and runs his routes like a receiver. He has excellent height on a solid with a long wingspan that gives him advantages as a blocker and a wide catch radius. Johnson’s speed, strength, and physical playing style made him an impact player on the best team in the state, adding to his upside as a recruiting prospect.
Highlights
Rohlman is a receiving tight end who has all of the characteristics of a number-one receiver. He can line up wide and stretch the field as a deep threat with the ability to torch secondaries. His 6-foot-3 frame puts him in the tight end category for the scheme that he is in, but an argument could be made for him being looked at as a true wide receiver for a program. Rohlman is a player whose athleticism gives him the versatility to fill various roles, giving him significant upside as a recruit.
Houle is an absolute sleeper who had a very productive junior season. He is a do-all tight end with outstanding speed. He is an excellent blocker with formidable strength and the power to deliver devastating hits. Houle is an underrated player with a significantly high ceiling, putting him on a path to becoming a legitimate steal as a college recruit.
There were high expectations for Goetze heading into his junior season, and he did not disappoint. He showed his strength and physicality as an integral blocker for a potent run offense. His quickness off the ball helps him get to the defender and initiate contact while keeping his feet moving to maintain leverage and win the rep. Goetze initially popped up on the radar because of his athletic ability as a receiver, but his talents as a blocker in the run game make him a well-rounded player.
Judd is a wide receiver turned tight end whose first year in the position ended with a 4A state championship. He is a strong and aggressive blocker, making him a valuable addition to the front five. His speed, wide wingspan, and reliable hands give him advantages as an additional receiver in the passing game. Judd is a physical player who enjoys being in the trenches just as much as he enjoys making receptions, adding to his appeal as a prospect.
Highlights
Forsythe is an athlete with the size and frame that makes him an instant standout. He is a big target with excellent receiver and ball carrier skills, capable of making contested catches and tough to bring down afterward. Forsythe is a two-way starter who makes plays on both sides of the ball, making him a player worth checking out.
