While the regular season was great, the playoffs in each class exceeded expectations as a lot of talent was on display. With that being said, I wanted to take some time to focus on the players that stood out during the playoffs in each class. After covering 1A-5A , I will now turn my attention to the top playoff performers in 6A. With that being said, here is my 2022 6A All-Tournament Offense.
Travis Egan Travis Egan 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB Bullitt East | 2023 State KY is a player that I’ve been high on for a while now that really caught fire during the playoffs. Egan led Bullitt East to a 6A State Championship, completing 78/115 passes for 957 yards, 12 touchdowns, and only one interception. Egan has a very strong arm, showing the ability to stretch the field in the deep passing game and zip passes into tight windows in the short/intermediate passing game. He also has very good ball placement, putting passes where only his receivers can get to them. Egan also showed very impressive dual threat ability during the playoffs, running the ball 69 times for 478 yards and six touchdowns. Egan’s play in the 6A State Championship Game helped earn him MVP honors. Travis currently holds offers from Charleston (WV) and Kentucky Wesleyan but I can see more coming his way as he has the talent to be a very successful college quarterback.
Highlights
Brady Hensley Brady Hensley 6’0″ | 200 lbs | RB Lexington Christian Academy | 2024 State KY proved to be on of the most talented running backs in the state during the regular season and continued to do so in the playoffs. During Madison Central’s three-game playoff run, Hensley carried the ball 75 times for 758 yards and nine touchdowns. Hensley is a hard-nosed downhill runner that finds the lane and hits it with a sense of urgency. Once he hits the open field, Hensley has the contact balance and strength to bounce off defenders without breaking stride along with the speed to run away from the defense. Hensley also showed the ability to catch passes out of the backfield during the playoffs, finishing with one touchdown reception. Brady currently holds one offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way going into his senior year.
Camron Brogan
Camron Brogan
Another member of the Bullitt East offense that stood out during the playoffs was senior wide receiver Camron Brogan. Brogan was one of Egan’s go-to targets, catching 33 passes for 519 yards and seven touchdowns during the playoffs. Camron impressed with his dangerous speed in the deep passing game, showing the ability to run right by defenders to create separation. He also showed great ability after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes into big plays. Brogan also showed the ability to pose as a threat out of the backfield, running the ball nine times for 55 yards during the playoffs. Camron currently holds offers from Thomas More and Kentucky Wesleyan, and I can see more coming his way as he has the talent to be a productive receiver at the next level.
Joining Brogan on Bullitt East’s talented receiving core was senior Nolan Davenport Nolan Davenport 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Bullitt East | 2023 State KY . Davenport played a key role in the playoffs, catching 34 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns. Nolan is a smooth route runner with the ability to create separation with the breaks in his routes. He also has the speed to run right by defensive backs in the deep passing game. I also liked what I saw in jump ball situations as Davenport showed the ability to adjust his body and catch the ball at its highest point, even in tight coverage. Nolan currently holds one offer from Hanover but I expect more to come his way as he definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
Highlights
Max Gainey Max Gainey 5’9″ | 155 lbs | WR Louisville Male | 2024 State KY proved once again this season to be one of the best receivers in the entire state. After returning from an injury, Gainey played a huge role in Male’s run to the 6A State Championship Game. He finished the playoffs with 26 receptions for 313 yards and three touchdowns. In the deep passing game, Gainey has the speed to run by defenders and the athleticism to go up and win jump balls. After the catch, he is very dangerous as he has the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field and speed to run away from the defense. Gainey currently holds an offer from Purdue and I expect more to come his way going into his senior year as he is a Power 5 caliber talent at receiver
Andrew Vrbancic Andrew Vrbancic 6’3″ | 220 lbs | TE Louisville Male | 2025 State KY is a player that I’ve had on my radar for a while now that stood out to me during the playoffs. He played a key role in Male’s run to the 6A State Championship Game. Andrew is a skilled blocker in the run game, showing the ability to create movement off the line of scrimmage and pick up blocks in open space. He also does a great job of walling off his opponent to create a lane for the ball carrier. Vrbancic also showed that he is reliable in the passing game, finishing the playoffs with four receptions for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Andrew doesn’t currently hold any offers but he is definitely a player to watch on the recruiting trail over the next couple seasons
Highlights
Sebastian Espinoza
Sebastian Espinoza
An offensive lineman that caught my attention during the playoffs was Sebastian Espinoza from Bullitt East. Espinoza played a huge role in their 6A State Championship run. He is a big offensive tackle, measuring in at 6’6”, 280 pounds. Espinoza dominated in the run game, driving his man off the line of scrimmage and showing the ability to get to the second level and pick up blocks in the open field. He is also very reliable in pass protection, showing great footwork and the ability to mirror opposing pass rushers off the edge. Sebastian currently holds offers from Thomas More, Anderson, Pikeville, Culver-Stockton, Kentucky Wesleyan, Charleston (WV), Bethel (TN), Lindsey Wilson, Peru State, Presbyterian, Hanover, West Virginia State, McKendree, Fairmont State, and Concord, and I can see him being a key piece of the offensive line for any of those programs.
Isaac Sowells Jr. Isaac Sowells Jr. 6’2″ | 290 lbs | OL Louisville Male | 2025 State KY is a player that I’ve been high on for a while now that continued to impress during the playoffs. The sophomore center played a key role in Male’s run to the 6A State Championship Game. Sowells is a mauler in the run game, getting his snap off quickly and driving his defender off the line of scrimmage. He also does a great job of finishing his blocks through the whistle and picking up blocks in the open field. In the passing game, Sowells does a great job of picking up stunts and blitzes. Isaac doesn’t currently hold any offers but he is definitely a name to watch over the next couple seasons.
Highlights
I felt the need to add an “Athlete” spot to this list as Damin Green Damin Green 5’10” | 180 lbs | ATH Bryan Station | 2023 State KY did a little bit of everything during Bryan Station’s deep playoff run. On offense, Green mainly lined up at receiver, catching 12 passes for 161 yards during the playoffs. He is able to use his quickness to create separation in his routes and speed to run by defensive backs in the deep passing game. After the catch, Green has shown the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field and speed to run away from the defense. While he is great on offense, his biggest impact was made on special teams. Green is a very dangerous return specialist, returning two punts and one kickoff for a touchdown during the playoffs. Damin holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Southeast Missouri State, UT Martin, and Tennessee Tech, and I believe he has the talent to thrive at any of those programs.
