Kickstarting this game Lincoln-Way East was methodically marching down the field before being forced to punt, Loyola Academy came out swinging with a play action flea flicker to cap off a one play 80 yard TD to get on the board 7-0. This forced Lincoln-Way East to play from behind for the remainder of the game where they were able to cap off a field goal making it a 7-3 game before Loyola Academy responded with a TD making it a 13-3 game. This ended up being the final score of the game giving the Ramblers another State Championship to add to their trophy case. With that being said, there are talented young men on both teams and we’re here to highlight their performances. Without further ado, let’s dive into the Lincoln-Way East Standouts.

Mr. Tischer has been a man on a mission this season making his mark as a dual threat QB. His arm talent and foot quicks have been nothing short of impressive this entire season. Going up against a stout Loyola Academy defense he had his hands full as he was able to finish the night 11/21 for 81 passing yards and 19 carries for 59 rushing yards. There’s no doubt that he made his mark as being one of the top dual threat QBs we have in the state, be sure to see a rise in his ranking and college coaches starting to take notice.
Highlights
Mr. Scianna has been nothing short of being one heck of a player during his high school career. Coming into this fall season, I had him as the #2 LB out of the entire state in the class of 2023. After an impressive mid-season performance being a rangy inside linebacker he was able to pick up a PWO to Kansas University. Fast forward to the state title game and he was able to finish the night with 2 tackles with 1.0 TFLs. What wasn’t public knowledge until after the season was concluded was that this young man played the entire season injured which is impressive to say the least. Even being less than 100% he was still being a force on the field covering sideline to sideline and being a force between the tackles. There’s no doubt that this young man is going to be a steal for whichever program at the next level that lands him.
Highlights
Mr. Wuske is a young man that caught my eye in their Week 2 matchup versus Batavia holding down the defensive front. By doing so, he was able to finish the night with 4 tackles and 0.5 TFLs. This all happens with his ability to plug either the B or C gap in run support and using his quick first step to slip the run block to disrupt plays in the backfield. Going up against a good front that Loyola Academy has, this young man was able to win battles in the trenches and held his own at times. This young man is going to see his recruiting take off as we head into the off season and into his senior season campaign. A sure fire top defensive end that we have in the state for the class of 2024.
Highlights
Mr. Fushi is another standout defensive lineman that caught my eye during their Week 2 matchup against Batavia that was a force in the state title game. He finished the night with 4 tackles, 1.0 sacks, and 1.0 TFLs making his presence felt. This young man was able to do so with his active hands at the point of attack paired with his quick get-off. The result of this is making it hard for opposing offensive lineman to get set to block in time to latch onto Mr. Fushi before he either long arms or uses a swim move to get past the block and makes a play in the backfield. Another high potential defensive lineman to watch next season.
Highlights
Mr. Serauskis finished the night with 6 carries for 36 yards and broke an 11 yard run in the state title game as well. This young man has deadly foot quicks to him running a sub 4.5 40 which he uses to his advantage both as a slot receiver and when he lines up in the backfield at halfback. Where this young man really shines is when he’s in open space as he can make defenders miss with his elusiveness. This young man has the skill set and potential to be a big time player in the state of IL next fall, be sure to keep an eye on him as he hits the recruiting trail and gets set to be a top option in the Griffin’s offensive attack next season.
Highlights
Mr. Janowski is one of the top players that was in this state title game and was going up against a deadly Loyola Academy defensive front. This young man is poised to be a sure fire P5 recruit and showcased just why that is in the state title game with his strong punch at the point of attack and driving his legs through the whistle when he’s blocking in-line. In terms of his pass protection, he has the ability to both anchor and mirror the rushing defender to keep the pocket clean. The Griffin’s didn’t get the result that they wanted finishing as the 8A IHSA Runner-Ups but be sure to keep an eye on them next fall as they are going to be re-loading their roster en route to aim for another state title run.
