Mr. Scianna has been nothing short of being one heck of a player during his high school career. Coming into this fall season, I had him as the #2 LB out of the entire state in the class of 2023. After an impressive mid-season performance being a rangy inside linebacker he was able to pick up a PWO to Kansas University. Fast forward to the state title game and he was able to finish the night with 2 tackles with 1.0 TFLs. What wasn’t public knowledge until after the season was concluded was that this young man played the entire season injured which is impressive to say the least. Even being less than 100% he was still being a force on the field covering sideline to sideline and being a force between the tackles. There’s no doubt that this young man is going to be a steal for whichever program at the next level that lands him.

I got the chance to see Mr. Scianna in action earlier in this fall season and he was even more impressive in person. You need him to make plays in run support? He can do that by triggering downhill quickly to meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage and in the backfield. Need him to drop into pass coverage into hook/curl? He can do that too and come away with pass breakups by taking good breaks on the ball. There’s no doubt that he’s one of the top linebackers in the state of IL and he’s showcased just that in the first six weeks of this season. Twitter

Mr. Scianna balled out Friday night showcasing why he’s the #2 LB in the State for the Class of 2023. His ability to trigger downhill quickly in close space to meet the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage and disrupt plays in the backfield is second to none. There was an array of talent on the defensive side of the ball for the Griffins but his impact was felt on each play. If you try to run outside the tackle he can cover sideline to sideline not allowing the ball carrier to cut upfield. Safe to say Lincoln-Way East is happy to have Jake “The Razor” Scianna holding down their mike linebacker position. Most recently picked up offers from the University of St. Thomas and Western Illinois University. Wherever Mr. Scianna takes his talent to the next level, he’s going to make his mark and will be a great addition to any team. Twitter
