The Celtics were the cinderella team this fall making barley getting into the playoffs as a 5-4 team with a week 9 win then putting on an impressive performance beating highly talented teams to get to the 4A title game after finishing 3-6 last fall. Hats off to the Celtics as they had one heck of a season. For Sacred Heart Griffin, it was business as usual. They fell short last season losing to Joliet Catholic Academy in the 4A IHSA State Title gain and were on a mission to get back to the chip as it was legendary coach Leanard’s last season. He finished his career with over 400 wins and added one last state title to his resume as well – a sure fire hall of fame coach. The Cyclones won this one 44 to 20 to add another trophy to their case. With that being said, there are talented young men on both teams and we’re here to highlight them. Without further ado, let’s dive into the Providence Catholic Standouts.

Mr. Olson finished the night with 2 tackles, 1.0 sacks, and 1.0 TFLs. He did so by shooting into the B gap to disrupt plays in the backfield and when he didn’t secure the tackle he was able to disrupt the play enough for his teammates to rally to the ball for no gain on the play. What stands out the most about this young man is his quickness out of his stance which he uses to his advantage in his speed rush off the edge to generate QB pressure. It’s this type of skill set that’s one to watch as he can use his quick first step to his advantage paired with his active hands as he has one more year of HS football left to go.
Mr. Proudfoot has been on my radar for some time now who finished the night 14/35 for 208 yards for 1 passing TD, 1 INT, and 1 rushing TD. This young man can add touch on level three throws putting it right where his receiver can go get it giving them a chance on 50/50 balls. What stands out the most is his competitive nature spark that he brings to his team, no matter the down or distance he put it all on the line making something out of nothing to stay ahead of the sticks. This was seen in both offensive attacks as he was standing strong in the pocket getting the ball off under pressure and pulling the ball down to scramble if nothing is open downfield. A sure fire competitor that left it all on the field for his team.
Jamari Tribett
Jamari Tribett
Mr. Tribett finished the game with 14 carries for 42 yards, 2 receptions for 19 yards, and 1 tackle on the night. This young man has a burst through the hole which it seemed like he was going to break a long run each time he did. He can also catch out of the backfield showcasing his versatility to be used in both offensive attacks. Whether it was in the air attack or ground game, he keeps his feet driving through contact using his low center of gravity to his advantage here. He has another year left to make his mark, be sure to keep an eye on how he develops this off season as he could see his stock rise.
Charlie Soltys
Charlie Soltys
Mr. Soltys finished the night with 6 receptions for 136 yards being a good option for his QB. This young man can run a 3 step slant and get vertical quickly to break a 52 yard run with his foot quicks putting his team in the redzone. He does so by using his quickness off the line to close space on the defender playing in off coverage getting to the defenders toes. Once he does he uses his speed cut to create separation from the defender giving him space to work with to secure the catch both across the middle of the field and along the sideline. This young man could be a solid addition to a receiving core at the next level, currently holds no offers.
Mr. Santiago works on both sides of the ball this season and finished the night with 5 carries for 40 yards along with 1 tackle. This young man has a burst through the hole and once he gets through isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder upon contact to stay ahead of the sticks. He also has vision to read his blocks in open space which he uses to break a long run on a jet sweep to keep the chains moving for his team. On defense, he didn’t show up in the stat line as much as he wanted to but that’s not to say that he wasn’t holding down the perimeter well in pass coverage. Here, he can stay on receiver’s hip pocket taking them away as an option and transitions well to turn to run on deep shots downfield. A good potential player that currently holds no offers.
Dominick Agate
Dominick Agate
Mr. Agate finished the night with 2 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and 0.5 TFLs. This young man was able to do so by coming on a blitz off the edge on more than one occasion where he was able to come away with one sack on the night and when he didn’t he was getting pressure on the QB all night long forcing the opposing QB to make a play. He also works gap to gap to shifting through traffic to either meet the ball carrier in the hole or plug the gap forcing the opposing ball carrier to bounce the run play outside.
Honorable Mention
Kaden Nickel 24′ RB
Jack Tess 23′ WR
Anthony Picciolini Anthony Picciolini 6'3" | 220 lbs | QB Benet | 2023 State IL 23′ TE
