Continue ReadingIf someone can get on the field as a Freshman at Lakota West, you know they have some serious talent. Thomas is a dynamic linebacker. He’s extremely versatile and was used in many different ways as an outside linebacker in the Firebirds defense. He can line up on the edge and get to the QB. He can drop and cover. He’s really good in pursuit down the line of scrimmage. He’s physical when taking on blockers and plays with violent hands. He gets to the ball in a hurry and is a very fundamentally sound tackler. As Cam continues to grow and get stronger, he’s going to have a chance to really be a game wrecking type of player.

Chardon and coach Mitch Hewitt bring a no-nonsense physical brand of football to the table. That style of play fits Baggott like a glove. At 6’3 and change and 240 pounds Andrew already has a really solid frame to build on. He plays offensive tackle for the Hilltoppers. Baggott is strong in both his pass set and run blocking, but it’s in the run game where I think he excels right now. He has great feet and the athleticism that allow him to get to the second level and mow over linebackers. He can also execute pull blocks. He can slide step and block the outside zone. When he engages the defender, he does a great job of rolling his hips and getting the man on his heels. If Baggott can continue to add good weight and strength he has a chance to be really good.

Gebhardt played safety on the Braves defense. In the pass game, he’s very comfortable in space and takes great angles to the ball. He would line up in centerfield and has good ball skills as evidenced by his 4 interceptions on the season. He can also play in the box and does a good job in the run game as well. He does a good job in his run fits and he’s a sound tackler who gets the guy down. I think it’s too early to tell whether his true fit is as a strong or free safety. His versatility will be an asset in how he’s used because coaches can move him around him and the offense will have to account for him when they come to the line of scrimmage.

As a freshman Tengesdahl nailed down a starting job for the storied Wayne Warriors program. At 6’0 255, he already has stout build and carries his weight well. When you watch him play, he always knows his assignment and is taking the correct footwork to get there. He has the athleticism and quickness to do a lot of things in the run game. He’s really good at scraping and then not just getting to the second level but executing really good blocks. He anchors well and does an excellent job of helping in the pass game. He might be as fundamentally sound and polished an offensive lineman as I’ve seen at his age. He has great upper body strength that he uses to finish. As he gets stronger in the hips and lower body, he should begin to come a dominant high school offensive lineman. The genes are there too. Paxton’s older brother, Evan, is headed to the University of Cincinnati to play on the interior offensive line.

Davis is a very impressive young QB. He’s a very polished and well-rounded QB. As a passer he has easy arm strength. He also is able to place the ball in small windows to his receivers. He can win from in the pocket, and he can win on the run when they move the pocket. He has the athleticism to get out and run, but I’m very impressed with his discipline to no use that as a crutch which a lot of young quarterbacks do. He does a great job of being locked-in to keeping his eyes downfield and making plays with his arm. Levi can make plays with his legs as needed which really stresses defenses and allows him to move the chains in situations where the pass isn’t there. As Davis continues to grow, get stronger, and develop as a Quarterback I’m very excited to see his game really take off.
