TE | Jayk Slager | Zeeland West Class of 2017
Playing at Zeeland West, Jayk was a beast. He started for the Dux for three seasons, being a huge part of some big playoff runs. He was a two-time all-state athlete, and his senior highlights include a ton of beastmode blocks and great catches. At the collegiate level, he’s been a steady contributor for GV. Jayk appeared in 12 games in 2018, earned 1st team All-GLIAC in 2019, 2nd team All-GLIAC in 2021, and had a productive season this year. Check out his Zeeland West highlights here!
RB | Tariq Reid | Davison Class of 2018
Reid was a Mr. Football finalist back in 2017, and it’s clear to see why. Reid broke many records for Davison and possessed an elite balance of power, speed, and vision. So many of his big runs in High School came because of his ability to see the field. There’s truly no question why he was a consensus all-state selection and a Mr. Football finalist.
At GV, he broke onto the scene right away, rushing for 507 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2019. In 2021, Reid rushed for 627 yards and 6 touchdowns. Then, this year, Reid truly broke out rushing for a career-high 1027 yards and 19 touchdowns! What a year it’s been for the Davison product.
DB | Antonio Strong | GRCC Class of 2017
Strong was a prototypical WR/DB in high school, and a dang good one at that! On hudl he’s listed primarely as a WR, but he has several DB highlights plus plays DB at GVSU. His senior highlights are a long 12 mins, and he has a long list of incredible HS performanes. At GV, he’s now a four-year starter with lockdown defense. He sported 6 pass breakups and 1 interception this season!
QB | Cade Peterson | Glen Lake Class of 2018
Talk about a Gem! Cade Peterson was the QB of Maple City Glen Lake, and was a key factor in their 2016 State-Championship run. He was a QB that could make any throw, agaisnt any coverage, against any team. Out of High School, he was a Division 6 gem and likely would have been offered some D1 offers if he had played at a different school.
Cade has been GV’s starting Quarterback for two years now, and this season, he’s passed for 2439 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also has 546 yards rushing with 7 additional touchdowns. Cade has been a staple for a consistnet top-10 team, and he’ll likely start next season for the Lakers as well!
