In the regional finals on December 2nd, 2022 it will be The Atascocita Eagles vs The North Shore Mustangs. These are two of the best teams in all of Texas. From my analysis, whoever wins this game will be the 6A Division I state champions. These two teams have played against each other already at the end of the regular season it was a competitive game with a close score of 16-13 with North Shore coming out victorious. However, it could easily turn out differently in the rematch. I will be breaking down both teams’ key players for this upcoming game.
North Shore Mustangs
#5 Jacoby Davis Jacoby Davis 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB North Shore | 2023 State TX CB Sr 5’11 175 lbs
North Shore has an impressive defensive back core, especially Senior Jacoby Davis Jacoby Davis 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB North Shore | 2023 State TX . There are a lot of traits that Jacoby has, but one thing that standouts about him are that he is a phenomenal athlete. Jacoby was always on his man allowing no separation between them. Jacoby is a huge threat by not allowing any passes to come through to his opposing wide receiver. I noticed Jacoby last year and he has only improved since then and is one of the top defensive backs in Houston. I’m not the only one that noticed Jacoby’s talent he has a lot of colleges and university offers as a top prospect. Jacoby has college offers from; Auburn University, the University of Michigan, Mississippi State University, Baylor University, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and the University of Houston to name a few of them.
#8 David Amador QB, WR Sr 6’0 180 lbs
David Amador started out as a wide receiver but is now the starting quarterback since the previous quarterback Kaleb Bailey Kaleb Bailey 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB North Shore | 2025 State TX went out with a knee injury. David has been getting accustomed to the quarterback position and has been improving every week in the playoffs. David has a good throwing arm all his passes are accurate and on target. However, his main strength is his mobility and speed which he obtained from playing as a wide receiver. David has become quite the quarterback in the last couple of months I’m excited to see how he performs against Atascocita’s defense.
Atascocita Eagles
#1 Zion Brown QB Jr 5’11 185 lbs
Zion Brown is an underrated quarterback in the city of Houston. Zion is an efficient passer that gave his receivers good passes putting the offense in great positions. Zion’s main talent however is his speed and scrambling skills. Zion could effortlessly dodge tackles and outrun anyone on the opposing defense. Zion is a double-threat quarterback I don’t understand the slander on him and he keeps on improving week to week and by next season he will be a top college prospect on everyone’s radar.
#6 Tory Blaylock Tory Blaylock 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Atastocita | 2025 State TX RB So 5’10 185 lbs
Tory Blaylock Tory Blaylock 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Atastocita | 2025 State TX is making strides in his sophomore season. Whenever Tory got the ball he would rush through the hole, and zoom down the field. Tory can compete against the best of defenses especially Katy’s and North Shore’s. They have some of the best athletes in the state and Tory was outrunning them with ease. Tory is an important player in only his sophomore year I’m excited to see how he progresses throughout the next two years and the rest of the current playoffs.
