Adam Damante Adam Damante 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB American Leadership Academy (Gilbert North) | 2023 State AZ , QB, ALA-GN ’23
The NAU commit had himself a solid night by throwing for 285 yards and 2 TD’s while rushing for 61 yards on 12 carries. He was by far the toughest player to gameplan against in 4A given his true dual-threat ability. Unmatched speed at the 4A level where he’s a big play threat every time he takes off, and can sit back and pick apart defenses when needed as well. A much deserved state championship win for a very talented player.
Brandon Phelps Brandon Phelps 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North | 2024 State AZ , WR, ALA-GN ’24
Phelps had a clutch night for ALA, something he’s continued to do all season as he racked up 8 cathes for 41 yards and 2 TD’s. Physically gifted and dominant athlete that is a mismatch vs anyone in the state in 4A. Clean routes, good understanding of coverages, and he did a great job with boundary awareness and body control to stay in bounds for one of his TD’s.
Tyton Slade, WR, ALA-GN ’24
Slade is a kid that everyone needs to know. He hauled in 10 catches for 131 yards and a TD, while also adding a rushing TD on a reverse. He did a great job high pointing the ball and winning a contested catch downfield, showcasing some of that vertical threat ability. Frequently open all night and played a major role in helping bring that state championship back to ALA.
JJ Lerma, RB, Snowflake ’23
Lerma punched in one of Snowflake’s TD and was continued to be a key part of that ground game. Lerma did a terrific job as part of that 1-2 punch offense that Snwoflake operates with. He has a nose for the endzone and did his part to punch one in on Friday night.
Jett McCray, RB, Snowflake ’24
McCray punched in the other Snowflake TD, and had himself a promising night. He runs hard and doesn’t shy away from contact and showcased some legit potential as he heads into his senior year. I expect McCray to hold a crucial role in that Snowflake offense in 2023.
