Powered by four touchdowns from junior sensation Teague Ward Teague Ward 5'11" | 220 lbs | LB Williamsburg Academy | 2024 State SC , the Stallions blitzed the War Hawks 41-21 to complete a perfect 12-0 season and capture the SCISA 2A state title. Let’s look back on a thrilling championship game from Charleston Southern University.
Colleton Prep had no answer for Williamsburg’s potent ground game led by Ward and Camden Moore Camden Moore 5'5" | 160 lbs | RB Williamsburg Academy | 2024 State SC who surged past a stout War Hawk front. Thanks to a terrific performance from the Stallion offensive line, Moore racked up 144 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries including a perfectly-executed hook-and-lateral play from Wes Smith that went for a 33-yard score. But Ward was by far the best player on the field, using his brilliant athleticism and acceleration to make defenders miss and charge through open seams. He was next-to-unstoppable on Saturday night, putting up 136 all-purpose yards with four touchdowns while dominating on defense to stymie Colleton Prep’s excellent rushing attack. Ryan Corey impressed under center, taking what the defense gave him and using his quick legs for an efficient 114 rushing yards and a score on just nine carries.
Despite a tremendous game through the air from Colleton Prep quarterback Cole Davis, Williamsburg Academy tightened up defensively in the second half to hold down the War Hawks. Williamsburg’s run defense was especially impressive, limiting Colleton Prep to just 90 rushing yards on 22 carries. Linebackers Ward and Landon Strong flew to the football all night long, and Noah Ard provided a huge presence on the line to hold down Davis and a potent group of War Hawk backs.
It was a valiant effort from Davis, who completed two deep passes for touchdowns to take a pair of leads in the first half. He pounced on a Ward fumble on his own 1-yard line and took it the whole way just two plays later on a 99-yard pass to Walker Bryan. Davis showed off his sensational deep ball on his next series, throwing a beauty to reliable wideout Caden Crosby for a 66-yard score. A hard-nosed player who will fight for every yard on the ground while possessing the arm to beat the defense deep, Davis has turned into a complete player and remarkable leader for the War Hawks. He’ll be back next season for his senior campaign, but he’ll have to do more through the air after losing some key pieces on the line. Raleigh Obenaus concluded a spectacular season on the line, winning his matchups early and often to put pressure on the Williamsburg run game. Walker Nettles showed his strength and hustle up front to complement Obenaus’ play, and Crosby made several key stops throughout the night in the secondary.
