Offensive Players of the Year
Brayden Dorman Brayden Dorman 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Vista Ridge | 2023 State CO , Vista Ridge Wolves (QB)(Sr.)(16) – Dorman was, by far-and-away, the state’s most prolific passer over the course of the 2022 season, as virtually no defense could even moderately slow down the Arizona Wildcats commit. Looking at Dorman’s numbers in his last season leading the Vista Ridge offense, he went an unbelievable 199 of 270 (74%) for 3,422 yards passing, 46 passing touchdowns against just 7 interceptions, and a QBR of 144.4 while also adding 105 yards rushing and 3 rushing touchdowns on the ground as well. When you breakdown Dorman’s film from 2022, you can see Dorman is a tall, long-armed QB (6’5, 200 lbs) with a smooth, quick release that has excellent ball placement at every single level of the field. Strong armed passer that can hit every level of the field with little to no difficulty, forcing the defense to cover every blade of grass on the field. Intelligent QB with the ability to read the rotation of the coverage shell and identify the holes in zone coverage underneath. Displays deceptive athleticism when forced to scramble, consistently being able to pick up key yards with his feet. Shows outstanding pocket presence and enough mobility to avoid the rush and buy himself time to find a receiver downfield. Good accuracy moving out of the pocket and throwing on the run/off-platform with varying arm angles to get the ball around defenders. Dorman is currently ranked the number 1 QB and the number 2 player overall for the class of 2023, which isn’t shocking at all to see. Like I stated earlier, Dorman was easily the state’s most prolific passer in the 2022 regular season and the blue-chip QB will look to finish his last season of prep football with a 4A state championship before heading down to Tucson in 2023.
Noah Triplett Noah Triplett 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Dakota Ridge | 2023 State CO , Dakota Ridge Eagles (RB)(Sr.)(4) – Triplett was, in my humble opinion, the state’s top all-around tailback over the course of the 2022 season as he was a significant contributor in every phase of the offense for Dakota Ridge. It was obvious early on in the year that Triplett was the catalyst for everything the Eagles hoped to do offensively, with that formula being consistently successful throughout the season as Triplett accounted for a remarkable 1,475 yards rushing and 25 rushing touchdowns on 193 carries (7.6 YPC), while also adding 325 yards receiving and 3 receiving touchdowns on 22 receptions (14.8 YPR) as well. When you watch the film of Triplett’s senior season, you can see that he is a highly explosive athlete with elite top end foot speed that allows him to quickly out run most 2nd and 3rd level defenders. Elite lateral agility makes him a highly elusive runner in the open field that can quickly move to space. Displays good physicality on runs between the tackles and when working through arm tackles in traffic. Great vision when setting up defenders to be blocked and working to daylight from there. Outstanding ability to anchor and stand up a blitzing defender when being asked to stay in the pocket for pass protection. Triplett is currently rated the number 4 RB and number 46 player overall for the class of 2023, with the senior tailback’s 2022 season further cementing his status as a top tier RB in the class of 2023. He’ll look to finish his career as an Eagle with a 4A state title before heading somewhere to play collegiately in 2023.
Brandon Hills Brandon Hills 5'9" | 150 lbs | WR Vista Ridge | 2023 State CO , Vista Ridge Wolves (WR)(Sr.)(7) – With Dorman being the state’s top passer, it only makes sense that his favorite receiver from the 2022 season was the state’s most prolific receiver. Throughout the course of this season, the Washington State commit completely shredded damn near every defense that lined up against him and the Vista Ridge offense, as he accounted for an unreal 1,438 yards receiving and 20 receiving touchdowns on just 69 receptions (20.8 YPR) while also adding 46 yards rushing on the ground and a punt return for a touchdown on special teams for good measure. Watching Hills’ last season at Vista Ridge on tape, he displays outstanding ability after the catch. Highly elusive runner in space that makes him tough to tackle in the open field in 1-on-1 situations, allowing him to be a dangerous receiver working underneath or the intermediate areas of the field. Consistent, strong hands in traffic and exceptional lateral agility in tight spaces make him a reliable receiver out of the slot. Good top end foot speed allows him to get past most second-level defenders and third-level defenders if the defender takes a bad angle. Displays excellent tracking ability on deep and intermediate balls. Tough receiver that isn’t afraid of contact over the middle on short and intermediate routes. A versatile and well-rounded athlete that is a threat to create chunk yardage or a touchdown whenever he has the ball in his hands. Hills is currently rated the number 3 WR and the number 15 player overall in the class of 2023. It’s obvious to see why Hills is a coveted prospect in this year’s class and will look to finish his senior season with a state championship before going off to Pullman.
