Week 8 against Burleson Centennial, Hejny recorded 435 total yards and 6 touchdowns. He went 12 of 13 with 276 yards passing and 4 touchdowns. Also had 12 carries for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Hejny is a just a Junior at Aledo, shows a high level of maturity and poise under center. Has good patience when sitting in the pocket, also makes good decisions with where to go with the ball. With Aledo running a RPO style offense, Hejny at times keeps the ball, has a shifty and physical running style. Does not shy away from contact and will fight for those extra yards.
Highlights
Demarion Finch
Demarion Finch
Week 8 against Amarillo, Finch turned it up a notch. Rushing for 139 yards on just 12 carries for 2 touchdowns. A powerful and physical back that shows excellent acceleration once he gets past the defensive line. Uses his high level of awareness by knowing where the sticks are and always falling forward to pick up as many yards as possible. Finch is a fantastic compliment to this Mustang offense, as he broke off a 95 yard touchdown run in the third quarter that put the Mustangs up. Only a sophomore, I feel that Coronado coaches will continue to keep him as a key component in the offense. The next couple seasons will be interesting to watch of Finch as he continues to develop and grow into an even more mature and powerful back.
D’Arius Carmouche
D’Arius Carmouche
Last week against Arlington, Carmouche had 4 interceptions on the night. He has excellent footwork when back pedaling in coverage. Along with great body control and tracks the ball extremely well. You can see the anticipation of the throw on every play by how quickly he jumps routes. Great top end speed that allows him to put the offense at an advantage with good field position after an interception. Has the ideal frame in a defensive back, also performs well as a receiver on offense. Carmouche has already recorded 8 interceptions this season, that puts him at an average of one per game. If there aren’t any colleges with eyes on him at this point, with continued performance like this, expect that to change.
Houston Brookshire
Houston Brookshire
In Week 8 against cross-town rival Frisco, in a thriller that came down to the last play, Brookshire was a popular target all night. He recorded 110 yards on 5 receptions and a touchdown. The touchdown reception came on a very acrobatic catch where his high level of athletic ability was on display. A long and rangy receiver at 6’2, Brookshire does an excellent job of finding space and getting open. If he isn’t open, throwing a jump ball is a viable option with him being the target, as the chances of him coming down with it are very good. Does an excellent job of working for those extra yards after a catch. A disciplined route runner, with the correct level of twitchiness to keep a defender on their toes. Brookshire currently holds no offers and has been a hidden gem, but as the season continues, I anticipate that to change.
Noah Farris
Noah Farris
Last week against San Antonio Holmes, Farris was electric. Going 15 of 22, throwing for 317 yards, and 3 passing touchdowns, which gave him a completion percentage of 68%. This has been a consistent stat line for Farris all season long. He is also complimented by a stellar receiving core at Harlan. Does excellent at standing tall in the pocket and showing a high level of poise. His demeanor is very mature, along with his decision making. Stands on a frame that allows him to become mobile and pose a threat with his feet. Farris has thrown for over 3,000 yards in his high school career and still has his Senior year to go. His current Quarterback rating sits at 106.6. I feel as long as he continues to perform this consistent, college coaches will be paying close attention to Farris.
