Romeo (5-2) @ Groose Pointe South (5-2)
On paper, Romeo should win this one, but that shouldn’t; deter your interest. What I’m curious about is how close his games are going to be. If GPS can play Romeo tough, that would say a lot about their improvement throughout the season. These are both playoff teams that control their own destiny.
Roseville (5-2) @ Anchor Bay (3-4)
This has the potential to be a GREAT game. Although Anchor Bay is 3-4, they’ve played an intense schedule and are currently in the playoffs but barely at #30 (D1). Roseville, on the other hand, is the #12 ranked team in D2, a comfortable playoff team but with an inferior schedule to Anchor Bay. If I were in Southeast Michigan this weekend, I would highly consider attending this game.
Lake Shore (4-3) @ Lakeview (4-3)
Not only is this a rivalry, but both teams are also fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot. Lake Shore is currently #25 in Division 3 with 44.3 Playoff Points, while Lakeview is #30 in Division 2 with 44.7 Playoff Points. Needless to say, a week 8 loss could present a win-or-go-home week 9 situation.
Clarkston (5-2) @ Lapeer (7-0)
This is a monumental matchup that will help shape the D1 scene. Clarkston is 5-2 in the most difficult league in the state, with incredible wins against Adams and Southfield A&T. Lapeer is an undefeated 7-0, but their best wins come against 3-4 Traverse City Central and 5-2 Grand Ledge. Nevertheless, I expect this to be an amazing measuring stick game for both programs.
West Bloomfield (6-1) @ Southfield A&T (6-1)
This isn’t just one of the biggest games of the week but one of the biggest games of the season. Both teams only have one loss, having played grueling schedules against many of the blue blood programs in Michigan. Both teams have boundless college talent, while this should be a nice Reqez Nace – Isaiah Marshall Isaiah Marshall 6'0" | 210 lbs | QB Southfield A&T | 2024 State MI battle. No matter who comes out on top, these are two state championship favorites.
Rochester (4-3) @ Stoney Creek (3-4)
This should be treated as a win-or-go-home for both programs. Rochester is currently the 29th team in Division 1, while Stoney Creek is lagging behind at 37. My take is that whoever wins this game deserves to be in the postseason. Both teams have winnable Week 9 matchups as well.
