Continue ReadingAs i continue this series of articles for week 4 highlighting top performances by position each week, I wanted to say there are MANY other wide receivers and tight ends who could be put on this list. I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Tanner Schuster
Tanner Schuster
During Richland’s week 4 game against Chiawana HS, Tanner made a phenomenal catch in the corner of the end zone off a perfectly placed over the shoulder pass made by his quarterback. Tanner does a great job at fighting for yardage, always putting his shoulder down and embracing contact. Schuster runs routes well, creating space when needed for the catch. He contributes on the defensive side as a defensive back as well, staying with the opponent easily with his speed.
Bode Gardner
Bode Gardner
Gardner’s play on the field has been as good as any other receiver in the class of 2024, within the state. During his week 4 game against Ferris HS, the junior contributed quite a bit on the offensive side. He had a highlight reel play, elevating over 2 defenders to snag the ball. He then finished off the play breaking the tacklers and going all the way for the touchdown. Gardner finished the day with 6 catches for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Gio is incredibly talented on the football field, already being ranked as a top 5 wide receiver in the 2024 class. Having one of the best passers in the class throwing him the ball, it makes his job a lot easier. Week 4 against Curtis HS, he showed his ability to make defenders miss in the open field, leading to many big gains. He runs route extremely well, using his quick feet to separate himself from the defensive back, one of his touchdown passes was placed perfectly by his quarterback for an over the shoulder catch that landed perfectly in his arms. The junior finished with 9 catches for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns on the night.
The Lakes HS offense is filled with quite a few talented players, some of which who are committed to play at power 5 schools. David is committed to play at Oregon State University next year after his high school season ends. He makes plays weekly, on both sides of the ball. Against Stadium HS, he compiled 112 receiving yards to go along with 3 touchdowns on the night. He’s the top rated wide receiver in the class according to PrepRedZone for a reason. He makes defenders miss tackles easily, catches passes in traffic, and could possibly have the best speed for his position in the class.
Kaden Harken
Kaden Harken
Kaden has great size standing at 6’3″. He has fantastic speed in the open field, easily getting in-between the defenders and zooming past them for extra yardage. He is at his best when they put the ball in his hands early, allowing him to have blockers and space in front of him. That’s what they did against Moses Lake HS multiple times, leading so some very solid gains off of short passes. His hands are reliable, usually bringing in passes that are coming his way. This is a senior I’ll be watching as the year progresses.
