These 32, D3 High School programs has worked their tails off to get to week 10, but records don’t mean anything anymore… everyone is 0-0 and its win or go home. These teams have been lead by incredible QB play all season long and it’s time for these signal callers to rally their troop when it matters most. Here’s a list of QBs to watch in the first round of the D3 playoffs.
Cory Chavis- Redford Union 2023
If you don’t know who Cory Chavis is by now, it’s time to hop on the band wagon. The 6’5 gun slinger has lead the red hot Panthers of Redford Union to a 9-0 regular season and have that same hunger entering the post season. I don’t think there is a harder working QB in the state of Michigan than #12. I watched this young man grind all off season, from high level performances at showcases, camps and 7v7. Chavis has an incredible quick release, high IQ, pose in the pocket and grit to him. The type of kid that leads by example and can make his teammates run through fire for him. The Panther’s defense has been one of the top unit in the state this season, only allowing 5.5 points per game, which is giving Chavis and the offense the freedom to play loose and let the ball fly. Chavis enters the post season with a 70% completion percentage, 2,852 total yards and 27 TDS!!! The Panthers are looking to build off the regular season success in week 10 as the have a date with 5-4 Livonia Clarenceville who’s looking to play upset. Watch for Cory Chavis to prove to the state that he’s one of the top QB in the class of 2023 this post season.
Robert Lalain Robert Lalain 6'4" | 220 lbs | QB Divine Child | 2023 State MI – Divine Child 2023
Robert Lalain Robert Lalain 6'4" | 220 lbs | QB Divine Child | 2023 State MI is build like a Mike Linebacker, but plays the QB position like Josh Allen. The 6’4 225lb signal caller has been balling out all season, and I’m not surprised because of the amazing off season this dude has had. Lalain has great feet, accuracy, timing and will run you over if he needs to use his feet. The Falcons QB has he’s team 7-2 entering post season play and is hungry to make a deep run to cap off his incredible career at Divine Child. Finishing the regular season with a 68.4% completion percentage, 1,500 passing yards with 20 TD… as well as, 250 rushing yards with 3TDs on the ground. The Falcons have been battle tested this season… bouncing back for a week 1 lose to Riverview 28-35, and barley fell short to Prep-Bowl Runner up, U of D Jesuit 22-30 in week 6. Look for Lalain to prove to the state what Falcon fans already know… #18 is the real McCoy. DC plays host to 6-3 Garden City tonight is a D3 slug-fest!
Brayden Ledin- Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 2023
Brayden Ledin can flat out spin the rock. I truly have only seen a few QBs throw a prettier football than #12 and boy is he accurate with it. Ledin, in my eyes, is one of the most under-rated QBs in the 2023 class and he’s ready to show the state what I already know this post season. Ledin has a smooth swing, great zip, can throw through any window, and most importantly… KNOWS THE GAME! I’ve seen him line WRs up pre snap like a veteran offensive coordinator. He understand coverages, concepts and is quick with hot routes when he sees his WRs have leverage. The kid is a true student of the game and is a blast to watch. O Lake has hands down had one of the toughest regular season schedule in the state this season, playing multiple teams in higher division… not just teams in higher division… powerhouses in higher divisions. The Eaglets enter the post-season 3-5 but are BATTLE TESTED!!! Falling short to teams like Rochester Adams (D1), River Rouge (D3), De La Salle (D2), and Detroit Catholic Central (D1). I think OLSM is the most dangerous #3 seed in the state, but have their work cut out against a very good 7-2 Croswell- Lexington team tonight. Look for Ledin to ball out and lead is troop into battle tonight in this must see D4 match-up.
