Games of the Week
Big North
Cadillac 28 Petoskey 19 – Cadillac is a playoff team, Petoskey is not.
Capital Area
Grand Ledge 56 DeWitt 49 – The Capital-Area Blue is one of the most competitive leagues in the state. Extremely interesting to see The Comets win this one in a shootout. These are two playoff teams, and I still wouldn’t count DeWitt out for a deep playoff run.
Ionia 19 Lansing Catholic 18 – Surprising to see Lansing Catholic may not even make the postseason after winning the state championship last year.
Catholic League
OLSM 15 Brother Rice 7 – Wow. Brother Rice has now won against arguably the best team in the state, and lost against the bottom of the Catholic Central League. Rice is a more talented team than OLSM, so props to OLSM for the big win. Brother Rice is good enough to make a deep playoff run, but they probably won’t even make it there.
U-D Jesuit 30 Divine Child 22 – Two very evenly matched teams here, and two teams fighting hard for a postseason bid.
Downriver
Southgate Anderson 33 Carlson 28 – Two great playoff teams, but Anderson pulls off the slight upset.
Trenton 21 Woodhaven 14 – Both of these teams have looked great this season, and both teams have had only 1 hiccup so far. Hard fought game from both teams.
Great Northern UP
Durand 28 Gladstone 24 – A highly anticipated matchup shows Durand with a huge victory. Both of these teams are championship contenders in Division 6.
Marquette 21 Escanaba 13 – Marquette needed this win if they wanted a shot at the postseason. Not a good season for Escanaba.
KLAA
Brighton 41 Canton 21 – The Bulldogs are on a tear this season and will be interesting to see in the playoffs. Canton of course has talent, but they’re on a down year.
Hartland 33 Howell 13 – This almost seals a playoff spot for Hartland and severely hurts Howell’s playoff odds.
Fordson 31 Churchill 28 – Fordson’s 2nd win of the season after being a championship-hopeful last season. Fordson is still 10 points outside of the playoffs. Churchhill is 1-5 and wont make the postseason.
Lakes Valley
Davison 52 WLW 14 – Another marquee game, Davison’s defense dominates. I’m very impressed by Davison’s performance and this is a game where it seems Walled Lake Western got exposed. Still, two playoff teams with championship hopes.
Lakeland 17 WLN 13 – Another close loss for Northern, who falls to 0-6 after close games against Lakeland, WLW, and Kettering. For Lakeland, this was an absolutely necessary victory for them. Playoffs may be on the horizon.
MAC
Dakota 21 Romeo 14 – Always one of the best games of the year, Dakota comes out on top. These are two teams I desperately want to see this season!
Eisenhower 22 Anchor Bay 19 – Great OT game that has Eisenhower likely punching a ticket to the postseason!
OAA
Groves 15 Harper Woods 12 – On paper, these two teams were pretty evenly matched, and the game did not disappoint. Groves is a sure-fire playoff team, and their season finale against Seaholm will be legendary.
Seaholm 52 Troy 0 – Seaholm just beat a D1 playoff team by 52 points. This team is for REAL. Extremely excited to follow my alma mater through the postseason.
Ferndale 21 Avondale 10 – I did not expect this outcome. Props to Ferndale. Wow.
OK Conference
Byron Center 20 EGR 19 – Two teams clawing for some late-season success. A big blow for EGR, while it seems Byron Center will be a playoff team.
FHC 14 Lowell 7 – Low-scoring game for two great programs. I hope to see both teams represent West MI well in the postseason. FHC is one of five remaining undefeated programs in Division 2.
Muskegon 43 Union 21 – Needed win for Muskegon. This team is as talented as any, but they’re struggling in games they shouldn’t be struggling in. Still, a playoff team. As for Union, they’ll have a bye week that will be tallied as a W against Holland. They absolutely need to win against Zeeland East to have a chance at the playoffs, and I hope they do.
Rockford 37 Grandville 14 – Still not the Bulldog’s year to beat Rockford. I’m excited to watch both of these programs in the postseason, and it’s going to be interesting to see which OK-Red team is the last one standing.
Mona Shores 34 Zeeland West 6 – In a likely battle for the OK-Green title, Mona Shores elite talent and coaching staff prevail. The Sailors are extremely dangerous in D2, and they’re set up nicely to win one of the most difficult leagues in Michigan.
South Christian 36 GRCC 34 – This is a historic win for The Sailors, and it snaps a 42-game win streak for GRCC. It was a true team win for South Christian, with Jake Dehaan leading the charge. Honestly, Connor Wolf Connor Wolf 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI was the best football player on the field last night, but GRCC lacks true standouts other than him.
Saginaw Valley
Bay City Central 22 Mount Pleasant 21 – Huge win for Bay City Central!
Lapeer 39 Grand Blanc 17 – The Lightning are for real.
