Thomas Sims
Thomas Sims
What I love the most about Prep Redzone is how I always find myself coming across young men like Mr. Sims who previously weren’t on my radar – this young man is now. After 7 games this season, he racked up 98 total tackles averaging 14.0 tackles/game and having 62 solo tackles. Not to mention he’s come away with 6.0 TFLs and 4.0 sacks as well. What stands out the most about this young man is his closing ability. This is seen when he triggers downhill in close space to disrupt plays in the backfield, when he’s coming on a blitz to close on the QB securing the sack, and closing quickly in the flat to secure open field tackles. Needless to say, there’s a reason why this young man has been able to put up the numbers he has so far this season. All in all, this young man has come into this season to make his mark and he’s been doing one heck of a job in doing so. Twitter
Mr. West is another young man having an impressive season so far coming up with 93 total tackles and averaging 13.3 tackles per game. Not to mention his 4.0 TFLs and 1.0 sacks either. When you turn on his highlights below, you can see exactly how he’s able to produce such numbers. This young man’s ability to trigger downhill in close space to not just meet the ball carrier in the hole but slip blocks to disrupt plays in the backfield is one to keep an eye on. If you don’t get a hand on this young man when run blocking he has the ability to shoot the gap & close quickly to blow up the play in the backfield. One area that also stands out is his relentless ability to continue to work through the whistle in his pass rush when he’s coming on a blitz. By doing so, he’s able to come away with either QB pressure or a sack. Needless to say that this young man is rising his stock so far this season and coaches should take notice. Twitter
Over 7 games Mr. Howard has been able to come away with 75 total tackles averaging 12.5 tackles/game and 8.0 TFLs as well as 3.0 sacks. This young man was able to do so by flowing to the ball and getting his nose in almost every play. This is seen when he’s filling holes in run support between the tackles, securing tackles on the perimeter on outside the tackle runs, and when he’s making tackles in open space. One area to keep a close eye on is his range and ability to secure tackles outside his frame as he flashes this in his highlights below. Not to mention his ability to flip his hips and close on defenders when taking pursuit angles is impressive as well. Twitter
Kenyon Peoples

Now, Mr. Peoples doesn’t line up as your proto-typical linebacker since he works on the D-Line but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the potential to be a linebacker at the next level. I believe he’d be able to work across the D-Line at the next level as well as at edge and even a 3-4 OLB walked up to the line of scrimmage. With that being said, he has been able to secure 70 total tackles averaging 10.0 tackles/game over 7 games. He also has been a force in the backfield coming away with 12.0 TFLs and 1.0 sacks. What stands out the most about this young man’s skill set is his ability to fire out of his stance and use active hands to slip blocks to disrupt plays in the backfield. This young man is also relentless in his pursuit making chasedown tackles even if the play is going away from him. Keep a close eye on this young man as he can very well be a steal for the next level and be used in a variety of ways on the defensive front.
Joe Reinhart
Joe Reinhart
Mr. Reinhart is another new name to me this fall season that has had a good start so far. Over 7 games, he’s been able to put up 96 total tackles averaging 13.7 tackles per game as well as securing 8.0 TFLs and 1.0 sacks. This young man flies to the ball no matter what his alignment is on defense – he can be in the box or split in a 2 x 2 covering the slot receiver and he can still get his nose in to secure the tackle on the play. His ability to flow to the ball quickly and drive through the tackle is what catches my eye. This young man also can be a traditional fullback on offense as well both as a lead blocker and can take the rock as a downhill runner. All in all, a young man that currently doesn’t have as much interest as he deserves. Twitter
