Cedar Springs (2-4) @ Forest Hills Eastern (5-1)
Already with 49 Playoff Points, Forest Hills Eastern has already punched its ticket to the postseason. But for Cedar Springs, they need a boost.
Cedar Springs currently has 30 playoff points, and they’ll likely need at least 42 playoff points to make the postseason. This means they’ll have to win at least 1 more game, but probably two in order to make the postseason. Anyways, Cedar Springs has played a grueling schedule, but they’ve been competitive in most of their losses, including a top-10 team in the state in River Rouge. Forest Hills Eastern is also no joke, having a sensational season with just one loss against Catholic Central.
East Grand Rapids (2-4) @ Forest Hills Northern (3-3)
Believe it or not, EGR is currently the 1st team OUT of the playoffs (D3), while Northern is 7 points outside the playoffs (D2). Needless to say, the winner of this game will be IN the playoffs heading into Week 8.
EGR had a rough start to the season, getting blown out by Rockford and South Christian. After that, they seem to have found their footing with a win against Northview, demolishing their rival GR Christian, and a 1-point loss to a good Byron Center team.
Northern is still an unproven team after only having won against a bad Wyoming and Greenville team while having one decent win against Northview. The interior D Line needs to perform well in this one, and this entire team really needs to come together for a win here if they want any shot at the postseason.
East Kentwood (3-3) @ West Ottawa (3-3)
EK is currently IN the D1 playoffs with 45.5 points, and West Ottawa is IN the D1 playoffs with 42.2 points. Needless to say, whoever wins this game will remain in the playoffs, while whoever loses will likely have to fight their way back in.
EK has had a grueling schedule, having faced Muskegon (L), Brother Rice (W), Rockford (L), and Caledonia (L). No shame in any of those losses, as all four of those games were against state championship contenders. Now, they face a rising program with a ton of young talent in West Ottawa. EK will be favored, but I can also see this going the other way.
West Ottawa has a lot to be proud of this season, but they undoubtedly want to make the postseason. Right now, they’re the 2nd to last team in, and they’re set to face Caledonia and Jenison after EK. Needless to say, WO needs to win this game if they want to make the postseason.
