On Friday, October 14th, Wayne State University hosted the PSL Championship and man, oh man was it an instant classic. The Technicians of Cass Tech, needed to bring home a victory to keep their playoff dreams alive, and already losing to MLK earlier in the season… pressure on was. Well…. Cass turned that pressure into diamonds Friday night, posting a 28-14 victory over Crusaders!! This game was packed with future NFL talent and in case you missed it… here's the recap.

The first quarter felt like a heavyweight boxing match, with two top contenders feeling out each other's moves. The first couple drives from both programs ended with punts, until Cass Tech threw the first haymaker!! Senior QB, [player_tooltip player_id='193362' first='Leeshaun' last='Mumpfield'] found his Freshmen Phenom WR, [player_tooltip player_id='212358' first='Corey' last='Sadler'] for a 39yd fade ball to put the Technicians up 7-0 to end the 1st

In the second, Cass found paydirt again, but this time on the ground with Senior RB, Sean Hodges, punching it in from 3 yards out to put Cass up 14-0 midway through 2. Have you heard of [player_tooltip player_id='30316' first='Dante' last='Moore']? Lol you can never count out the fast scoring ability of an offense with Moore under center… and that's exactly what happened. Dante found his WR, [player_tooltip player_id='30325' first='Jameel' last='Croft'] for a 72yds BOMB to put King on the board at 7-14. The next drive Cass had a costly fumble giving King the ball back in good field position, and King capitalized. Moore found his RB, Sterling Anderson for a 14yd strike to tie the game up 14-14 before the half.

King started the second half with the ball and looked scary going high tempo… but costly penalties ended the drive, ending with a punt. The following drive Cass milked the clock with a long drive that was capped off in an unfamiliar way.. Mumpfield fumbled the rock trying to punch it into the endzone… and one of his hogs, OL [player_tooltip player_id='247707' first='Jaylen' last='Washington'], hopped on the pill and recorded himself a TD!!! Cass up 21-14 to end the third.

The fourth quarter was more blues for the Crusaders, ending their 4th quarter drives with punts. That man, [player_tooltip player_id='212358' first='Corey' last='Sadler'] found himself in the endzone yet again on a smoke screen, taking it 22yds for 6! Time wasn't on King's side at the end, and Cass held up the PSL Championship trophy with a 28-14 victory!!

Some key notes I took away from this match up… [player_tooltip player_id='212358' first='Corey' last='Sadler'] is the best Freshman football player I have ever watched. The young man had 2 TD on offense… and took back a 90YD Kick Return back to the house that was called back… [player_tooltip player_id='193362' first='Leeshaun' last='Mumpfield'] played his heart out and looks like his want the D1 state title to cap of his career at Cass. King is still an absolute machine!!! Just missed a few opportunities and flags costed them this game.
