Frosh to Watch
Joey Foot, Longmont Trojans (WR)(Fr.)(26) – Foot has established himself as one of the Trojans better receivers beginning all the way back in Week 1 and has shown an incredible amount of consistency for a freshman over the course of this season. So far through 8 games, Foot has accounted for 415 yards receiving and 3 receiving touchdowns on 24 receptions (17.3 YPR). While those numbers aren’t highly prolific, it’s still very impressive for somebody as young as he is in their first season as a varsity starter. When you go to the film, you can see Foot’s game-breaking speed is the first thing that jumps out to you, as it’s obvious most DBs aren’t able to keep up with him in a foot race. Excellent foot speed and athleticism make him a threat to score almost every time he touches the ball. Good size/length (6’0, 175 lbs), a good vertical, and an understanding of how to box out the defender and high point the ball make him a red zone threat on fades and jump balls down the field. Good lateral agility, lower body/core strength, balance, and overall elusiveness as a ball carrier make him a threat after the catch, consistently being tough to tackle in 1-on-1 situations in the open field. Willing blocker who doesn’t shy away from contact with bigger defenders. Operates best as a boundary receiver on deep and intermediate routes. While the official rankings for the class of 2026 haven’t been released yet, Foot can expect to be ranked highly if he continues to grow and play at a high level consistently.
Ja’Pree Jennings Ja’Pree Jennings 5'6" | WR Mountain Vista | 2026 CO , Mountain Vista Golden Eagles (WR)(Fr.)(15) – I previously wrote about Jennings earlier this week in one of my Game Review pieces, so it wasn’t entirely surprising for me to see he was one of the leading freshman receivers in the state. Jennings is quickly becoming a focal point of the Mountain Vista offense through most of this season, as he’s accounted for 331 yards receiving and 3 receiving touchdowns on 30 receptions (11.0 YPR). Turning to the tape from Jenning’s freshman season so far, Jenning’s best attribute is certainly his route running, as he is extremely effective in every phase of the route; consistently winning off the line in press coverage, consistently creating separation at the top of his stem, and an impressive ability to stop-and-start at almost any speed. Displays consistent, tough hands in traffic when making contact with a defender. Especially effective route runner on short and intermediate concepts, as his lateral agility/short-area quickness allows him to quickly create separation and create chunk plays after the catch, in space. Shows elite ability as a ball carrier after the catch, routinely finding grass in the open-field and being extremely difficult for opposing defenders to tackle in 1-on-1 situations in space. Good top-end foot speed allows him to pull away from slower 2nd and 3rd level defenders. At his best operating out of the slot where his strengths can be maximized. Jennings isn’t currently ranked because the class of 2026 rankings haven’t been released yet. However, if he continues to be a consistent threat for a talented Mountain Vista program, he’ll certainly be one of the top receivers in his class by the time the official rankings are released.
