Looking ahead to the postseason, we always seem to have multiple players blow up during the postseason, some earning multiple offers because of their postseason success. Narrowing things down quite a bit, I’m going over four division 1 seniors that could blow up this postseason!
DT | Michael Pittiglio Michael Pittiglio 6'5" | 235 lbs | DL Macomb Dakota | 2023 MI | 6’5, 230 | Macomb Datoka
Pittiglio is one of the best interior defensive linemen in Michigan, and I have a great feeling that he’ll receive much more attention this postseason. Watching his film, he’s a great run-stuffer and will get to the QB if he gets time. Although sometimes slow developing, once Pittiglio makes a move, he usually wins. His 6’5, 230lb frame makes him an absolute beast, and he can overpower many linemen with simple moves. Dakota is one of the most impressive teams in the entire state and is a legitimate contender for a state championship. If Dakota beats some of the best teams in division 1, watch for Pittiglio getting more attention.
CB | Desman Stephens II Desman Stephens II 6'2" | 205 lbs | DB Clarkston | 2024 State MI | 6’3, 205 | Clarkston
Stephens is one of the most underrated prospects in the state, and after Week 8, he’s Clarkston’s leader in interceptions. Although he’s “big for a DB,” Sauce Gardner is equal in height at 6’3. If you watch his film below, you’ll see an aggressive, fundamentally sound DB with a huge knack for the ball. All against amazing competition playing in the elite OAA Red. If you’re a college coach, look out for this player. He’s a D1 prospect in my book without a shadow of a doubt.
ATH | Shawn Foster Shawn Foster 6'1" | 165 lbs | WR Grand Ledge | 2023 State MI | 6’1, 165 | Grand Ledge
Although a GVSU commit, Shawn Foster Shawn Foster 6'1" | 165 lbs | WR Grand Ledge | 2023 State MI has garnered some D1 attention, having received an offer from Central Michigan. Foster is Grand Ledge’s QB1 this season, even though he’s played three seasons as a slot receiver. He’s a grand success at the “put your best athlete at QB” strategy. When I watched him during Week 1 against Coldwater, Foster was extremely athletic while throwing a very impressive ball- performing much better than I had expected. Grand ledge is an obvious playoff team, and if this team can make a run like I know they can, Foster could further bolster his status.
ATH | Carson Smith | 6’2 190 | Grandville
Although Smith is an Oakland University Baseball Commit, he could get some scholarship offers for football. Smith is a baller and a pure athlete for Grandville. He’s tough as nails, throws a good ball, and runs his heart out. The T-Wing offense isn’t very flashy, and we all know that T-Wing players oftentimes aren’t recruited as well, but Carson Smith is a special player for Grandville that is a D3/D2 talent. Grandville is set to be in an extremely difficult region with Caledonia and Rockford, but if they can escape a few playoff games, Carson Smith will receive some looks.
RB | Carson Shrader | 6’1, 220 | Brighton
I’ve had my eye on Shrader all season, and he’s gained some attention with a recent DII offer from Saginaw Valley State. He’s an extremely hard runner with great field vision behind a great offensive line. Better yet, he has a great resume so far this season, helping lead the charge for an 8-0 team. If Shrader performs well against Belleville, then if Brighton makes a deep playoff run, Shrader could receive much more college attention.
