West Ottawa (D1)vs. Jenison
Mathematically there is still a chance for West Ottawa to make the postseason, and they need a win against Jenison to do so. Even though West Ottawa is 3-5 on the season, all but one of their losses are against playoff teams. On paper, West Ottawa should beat Jenison and hope for the cards to fall right in order to gain hold of one of the final playoff slots.
John Glenn @ Howell (Both D1)
Chances are still slim for both teams, but the winner of this game could sneak into the postseason as the last team in D1. They better hope for losses from West Ottawa, Stoney Creek, and others. If one of these teams squeezes in, they’ll likely be met by a team like Brighton during round 1.
Bloomfield Hills @ North Farmington (D2)
If North Farmington wins, they’re likely in. Currently sitting at 2-6, North Farmington hasn’t looked great this season, but they’ve also played teams like Caledonia and Seaholm. If this North Farmington team makes the postseason, I would not put it past them to pull off an upset or two. Expect both of these teams to bounce back next season.
Portage Central (D2) @ Stevensville Lakeshore (D3)
This is a true win and you’re in for both programs.
Portage Central sits at #33 in D2, just one spot out from the playoffs. They are 3-5 with a ton of close losses while playing some of the better playoff teams in the state. If it were up to me, I think Central deserves a playoff nod, and they will likely win this game.
Lakeshore is in a similar boat, being the #36 team in D3, yet only 3 points out of the postseason. If they win against this D2 team, they will be in the postseason.
Detroit Henry Ford (D3) @ Grosse Ille (D5)
This is another true elimination matchup. The winner of this game goes to the postseason, and the loser sits.
Henry Ford has an advantage regarding team size and overall competition. Ford has lost games against King, Summit Academy, and Renaissance, but they had a big win over Mumford last week in the PSL Crossover. This now leaves Henry Ford as the #28 team in D3, but they will fall out of the playoffs if they lose to Grosse Ille.
Grosse Ille has been on a bit of a skid lately, having lost three straight. This team started the season 4-1 with a close loss against a good Airport team, but as I said, they haven’t looked good lately. Still, if Grosse Ille can pull off a win, which is 100% possible, they will make the D5 playoffs.
Adrian (D4) @ Owosso
4-4 Adrian needs to win against Owosso to make the playoffs. Owosso is 1-7, so this shouldn’t be a problem for Adrian, but we’ve seen greater upsets.
Cedar Springs @ Wayland (D4)
Cedar Springs has clinched a playoff spot, but Wayland needs some help.
Wayland is one of the most improved teams this season, but they still need to beat an incredibly good Cedar Springs team if they want to play after this week. It might seem like a longshot for Wayland to win, but keep in mind Wayland almost defeated 8-0 South Christian (21-14).
Dowagiac @ Niles (D4)
Niles needs to beat Dowagiac to make it to the postseason. Dowagiac is 2-6, while Niles is 4-4.
