Continue ReadingAs i continue this series of articles for week 3 highlighting top performances by position each week, I wanted to say there are MANY other wide receivers and tight ends who could be put on this list. I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Jordan Dever
Jordan Dever
Jordan has had a solid start to his senior year at Shadle Park HS. Week 3 against West Valley HS, he recorded 5 catches for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. He showed his ability to catch go balls, out-jumping the defensive back often using his vertical. Both of his touchdowns were that way, proving that his quarterback and offensive coordinator trust him. He’s fast and agile on the field, being able to break many tackles with little space to work with.
Aiden Nicholson
Aiden Nicholson
Adien had a phenomenal game week 3 for Mountain View HS, I already mentioned his quarterback this week in the quarterback article. Adien had the single game record for single game receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in a single game in Mountain View school history. Nicholson compiled 9 catches for 254 yards and 5 touchdowns. The juniors connection with quarterback Mitch Johnson Mitch Johnson 6’2″ | 190 lbs | QB Mountain View | 2023 State WA is one of the best duos in the state. Aiden is great at catching the ball over his defenders, rising up over them for the grab. This duo isn’t done this season just yet.
Ben Pupplo
Ben Pupplo
The senior has had a great couple weeks and deserevs to be mentioned again for this game. Ben’s quarterback, Skyler Cassel Skyler Cassel 6’1″ | 185 lbs | QB West Valley | 2023 State WA , has also been mentioned in this series previously and was almost included again. Their connection was on point week 3, Ben finished with 205 yards and 7 catches on the night, catching over half of Cassel’s yards thrown. Ben’s speed stands out on film, as he often out runs his defenders to create space for his quarterback to drop the pass in. The senior runs routes very effectively, helping him have space for easy catches. This duo has been next to impossible to stop all season.
Peyton Cunningham
Peyton Cunningham
Peyton is only a sophomore this year, but he has been playing very well all season so far. During his week 3 game against Mount Si HS, Cunningham caught 5 passes for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns. Peyton lines up in multiple spots on offense, even catching a wheel route out of the backfield for a touchdown. What stood out is his ability to use his burst of speed to separate him and his defender for an easy throw by his quarterback. Peyton has shown great potential this season, which is why I’m excited to follow his career as the years go on.
Kai Laukkanen
Kai Laukkanen
Kai has been a stud on the field for Capital HS on both sides of the ball. He’s getting the job done by shutting down his half off the field on defense and making plays on offense. I mentioned him week 1, but deserves another mention for week 3. He finished the game with 8 catches for 105 yards. He run routes extremely well, being able to stop on a dime, creating separation. Kai has the ability to rise up and catch the ball in traffic too and does so very well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s mentioned again later this season.
