With a few more big games, these players should see themselves move up at our next rankings update.
Earlier this week, we highlighted the breakout players, an article that can be found here.
Here, we’ll take a look at four rankings risers.
A four-year starter, Rocquemore has always been known as a gun-slinger, a quarterback who is fearless. He’s living up to that billing again this season but I was really impressed with his accuracy this past week. Rocquemore finished a 48-28 win with a 73 percent completion rate and 387 yards, scoring all seven touchdowns through the air. He’s definitely one to watch this season.
Gallimore primarily played quarterback last season, but we listed him as an athlete, knowing that his future was probably on defense. We’ve been proved correct so far, as he has been able to rack up some big tackling numbers now that he’s focusing on linebacker. He picked up 17 stops last week with three for loss in a tightly-contested defensive struggle.
Highlights
We wouldn’t normally include a player ranked this high, but we’ve gotten some pushback in the past for ranking Concepcion in the top 20 without much on-field success. He’s been injured in the past and is finally getting the opportunity to showcase his skills as a senior. A 5-catch, 125-yard performance Friday has him feeling great heading into week 3.
Lawrence, like Concepcion, is ranked near the top due to potential. However, he’d never played a varsity snap until two weeks ago. He seems to be settling in just fine, however, as the Butler sophomore put up nearly 300 yards on a 21-for-28 day against Richmond. He’s already showing a knack for being both and efficient and explosive passer.
