Continue ReadingPrep Redzone New England will be publishing a scouting report that includes short evaluations of all the Top Playmakers of a game who caught the attention of the Prep Redzone Regional Scout in attendance. The evaluations will be done from live-action played games each week. Beginning with Week 1 of MIAA action, this piece will cover Brockton H.S. vs Barnstable H.S. game played on Sept 9, 2022. We will split this piece into two parts with each team playmakers mentioned separately. In this piece, we begin with Brockton H.S. the winners of a 13-6 game. The following are the Top Recruit Playmakers observed:
Talk abut stepping up.. “Turco” was all over the field on Friday Night making plays. The class of 2023 defensive back tallied three interceptions and added a fumble recovery just inside two minutes left in regulation to seal the deal for his team. “Turco” has loose hips and can cover while displaying the ability to read where the ball is at all times. He reacts well when run support is needed and comes up fast and physical. He is a 3 year starter that is as aggressive as they come.
“Monteiro” lived up to our expectations on Friday. He was easily seen as the go to guy “playmaker” when big plays were needed on offense. Ranked as our # 1 WR in the New England Region and 9th overall in class of 2024, he is just an athletic specimen. Has soft hands and easily can be a match up nightmare for the majority of Db’s that will have to face him each game. Monteiro had an early costly fumble at the start of the game that he made up for by hauling in a 24-yard touchdown strike TD. He never put his head down and immediately got his team back into the game and thats what great players do well and is a highly rated D1 recruit with multiple offers.
“Pina”#52 was observed making many good tackles from the LB position. A unknown talent to me prior to this game that easily grabbed my eye with his consistent playmaking production. He stands approximately 5’11” 195lbs in estimation, and has a very physical presence brought to the field. He also picked off the first of the four interceptions his team had during the game. He was seen being gritty and quick to react to filling holes to make the play. If he continues to play like he did, he will likely get college coaches attention during and after the season.
Highlights
“Boston” had a great game on both sides of the ball, but his play on offense was what caught my attention. He was opening large holes and never got beat. At 6’5″ 315lbs his quick feet were on display. The vast majority of the successful runs his team had were to his side of the line. On defense he was a disruption force that commanded double teams, and he ate up a ton of space. He does hold offers from Florida A&M Univ, North Carolina A&T State Univ, Howard Univ, Norfolk state Univ, Morehouse College. Additional schools will likely come onboard during and after his senior season.
Highlights
“Rock was seen being shifty and quick. He is another unknown to me that stood out in live action. His inside running between the tackles was aggressive. He fights for the extra yards and because of his bursting ability, he gets up field before the 1st level defender can usually react. At 5’10” he has decent size and protects the ball well in traffic. He had a solid performance. He is in the class of 2024 so he has some time in the recruiting process to go. A continued effort this season like he did Friday night, will likely get him on the radar with colleges coaches.
Being a power 5 recruit with offers need no introductions as many are well aware of his athletic skill set already. “However, it was definitely a pleasure to evaluate him in a live setting. He just has a presence that cant be ignored. He wasn’t targeted much during the game as it appeared he was facing multiple double team schemes to prevent him from getting open. But his ability to hold his blocks on the perimeter was something that stood out to me. Especially on the 24 yrd swing pass play to his team mate Cameron Monteiro Cameron Monteiro 6’3″ | 180 lbs | ATH Brockton | 2024 State NewE . In that play he made a key block springing Monterio to see the end zone.
