Each week I will breakdown and make predictions for seven games in Southern California.

I had a rough week last week going 2-5.

Here is a look at what I think are the top games of the week:

VISTA MURRIETA VS. NORCO

Vista Murrieta is coming off its first loss of the season at the hands of Rancho Cucamonga last week. [player_tooltip player_id='406658' first='Akili' last='Smith'] Jr. is one of my favorite sophomore quarterbacks in Southern California and it will be interesting to see how he bounces back from his first loss. [player_tooltip player_id='384766' first='Grant' last='Wayne'] is a quality receiver and the defense has two quality sophomores in Corbin Frutos and Kuron Jabari Jr. Norco just crushed a bad Santiago team last week. [player_tooltip player_id='943018' first='Tyler' last='Dudden'] has showed some improvements since his bad opening start against Santa Margarita. UCLA commit [player_tooltip player_id='145245' first='Grant' last='Gray'] is one of the top receivers in Southern California and I don't know if Vista Murrieta has the guys to cover him. Norco beat Rancho Cucamonga so using the transitive property, I will take them here.

The pick: Norco

MAYFAIR VS. WARREN

This game may look like a blowout on paper, but it features two of the best quarterbacks in the Long Beach area in [player_tooltip player_id='145193' first='Evan' last='Tomich'] (Mayfair) and [player_tooltip player_id='25390' first='Nico' last='Iamaleava'] (Warren). Tomich has shown more of his legs this season and has a few rushing touchdowns. His brother [player_tooltip player_id='270895' first='Owen' last='Tomich'] is the team's leading receiver. Warren bounced back from a tough loss against Serra with an easy win over Culver City. Iamaleava has thrown seven touchdowns and one interception this season and his brother [player_tooltip player_id='282717' first='Madden' last='Iamaleava'] has seen some playing time this season. Former quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='39430' first='Darius' last='Cowens'] has played nicely at receiver. Warren should cruise in this one but don't be surprised if Tomich steps up while playing against a top quarterback.

The pick: Warren

LA HABRA VS. TROY

La Habra has dominated the Freeway League for 20 years but is off to a rough 1-4 start with a lot of blowout losses. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='270920' first='Justin' last='Gil'] is only averaging 102 yards per game through the air. Gabe Medel leads La Habra in tackles and is one of the top defensive players in the league. The Highlanders get Brandon Giron back at running back which is huge because they can move Jacob Apodaca back to receiver where he excels. Troy is 4-1 and runs a double-wing offense. Fischer Huss is an excellent running back with over 135 yards per game. The Warriors are not one dimensional though with quarterback Ryan Maturo having 9 touchdown passes this season. Troy hasn't beaten La Habra since 2006 but last year's game was very competitive. I think La Habra wins a tight one here.

The pick: La Habra

CALABASAS VS. OAKS CHRISTIAN

[player_tooltip player_id='147735' first='Alonzo' last='Contreras'] transferred to Calabasas from Sierra Canyon this summer and has done a great job with 15 touchdowns and one interception. [player_tooltip player_id='384741' first='King' last='Miller'] has eight rushing touchdowns and [player_tooltip player_id='147717' first='Aaron' last='Butler'] is a true number one receiver. [player_tooltip player_id='25425' first='Domata' last='Peko Jr']. is one of the better pass rushers in the Southern Section. Nate Bennett had a great game against Loyola last week at quarterback for Oaks Christian. [player_tooltip player_id='261713' first='Johnny' last='Thompson'] is a quality running back and [player_tooltip player_id='273633' first='Justice' last='Williams'] can make big plays at receiver. [player_tooltip player_id='406649' first='Christian' last='Knoos'] is a great sophomore on defense and Oaks Christian has 13 sacks. Oaks Christian is the best team Calabasas has played so far this season.

The pick: Oaks Christian

YORBA LINDA VS. EL DORADO

El Dorado is off to a 5-0 start where they have had a running clock in every game. Isaiah Quintero is a wrestler who is excellent at running back for the Golden Hawks. [player_tooltip player_id='943045' first='Nate' last='Bento'] is coming off his best game of the year at quarterback against Chino. Evan Campuzano has three interceptions for the El Dorado defense. Yorba Linda has a great balanced offense with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='270909' first='Reyn' last='Beal'] and running back William Saucedo. [player_tooltip player_id='220688' first='JJ' last='Conrad'] is a receiver that I am not sure El Dorado can cover. [player_tooltip player_id='270026' first='Wyatt' last='Mosier'] is the best running back on the field and may be able to contain El Dorado's running game. Yorba Linda is the best team El Dorado will play this season by a lot.

The pick: Yorba Linda

SANTA MARGARITA VS. ORANGE LUTHERAN

This is likely the third place game in the Trinity League and both teams are coming off a bye. Santa Margarita most recently lost a 69-49 shootout against Los Alamitos where [player_tooltip player_id='25428' first='Jaxon' last='Potter'] had a career-high in passing yards. [player_tooltip player_id='115420' first='Emmett' last='Mosley'] had a breakout game at receiver and [player_tooltip player_id='195538' first='Bain' last='Eiseman'] made some big plays. Orange Lutheran quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='282728' first='TJ' last='Lateef'] had a breakout game against Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks. The Lancers have good young players on defense like [player_tooltip player_id='282779' first='Jojo' last='Edwards'], Wallace Filemu and [player_tooltip player_id='283686' first='Talanoa' last='Ili']. [player_tooltip player_id='261807' first='Gabe' last='Morin'] is also a real asset on both sides of the ball. I think Santa Margarita can get in the backfield and make Lateef make decisions he doesn't want to make.

The pick: Santa Margarita

LINCOLN VS. CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC

This has become a quality rivalry game in San Diego and the game wasn't played last year because of the bad blood between the schools. Cathedral Catholic has played an outstanding schedule but the Dons are not the team they were last season. The big matchup I am looking forward to is the Cathedral defense, led by [player_tooltip player_id='145201' first='Victory' last='Johnson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282705' first='Madden' last='Faraimo'] against Lincoln running back [player_tooltip player_id='145173' first='Roderick' last='Robinson II']. KJ Chatham has been hot at quarterback for the Hornets lately and Corey Thompson-Miller has emerged as a top receiver alongside Makhi Gray. Cathedral Catholic's schedule has been tougher than Lincoln's, but I think Robinson is the difference in this game.

The pick: Lincoln
