Sechser was simply a force in the Sioux Falls Jefferson game this past week and his overall performance on the field showed us the why. He was everywhere and making plays at a high level on the ball at all times. There was not a single defensive position that was where Sechser was not trying to get a stop or make a big play for his team. And making the big play is something that Sechser seemed to do all game, making big tackles and stops in the moments when he needed but more importantly was lockdown in his coverage of the offense. Not only did Sechser tally a whopping two interceptions on the day but made those interceptions go back for six for his team, making his day even more impressive with two pick-sixes. He generated frankly as we see on both sides of the ball and most players would be happy just to end their game with an interception, Sechser, was a force and someone who wants his respect for the performance that he put on last week.
Rylee Veal Rylee Veal 6'1" | 195 lbs | RB Harding County-Bison | 2025 State SD – RB, Harding County
Veal was simply unstoppable in his teams performance last week as the lead back and it is clear why he is up there with some of the best running backs that South Dakota has to offer. In his teams dominating win over a conference game against Faith High School, Veal left everything out on the field. To start, he rushed for an amazing 224 yards total through out the game and even more so impressively did that on just a total of 14 carries overall averaging out to an insane 16 yards per carrying. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what Veal accomplished in this game, to tack on he had an additional 4 touchdowns all coming on the ground from his rushing attack. Veal was not only the top offensive producer for his team in this game but the player of the game without a doubt, with him accounting for roughly half of his team’s total yards of 576. It is always impressive to watch running backs succeed at a high level and do it with such grace and ease, but with it comes to Veal, running into the end zone seems to be second nature to him.
Burk Blasius Burk Blasius 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Wall | 2024 State SD – QB/DEF, Wall
Blasius while not throwing the most passes in Wall’s game last week, he showed us how powerful his arm is and how talented he is as a quarterback. Blasius fits in well with the idea of a bazooka style of quarterback and man did he show us his arm in this past game, with him tallying up a total of 254 passing yards for his team. While the number of yards might seem less than what you would expect, Blasius, only threw 9 passes in this game and completed seven of them. Which averages to around 36 yards per completed pass, showing while he did not throw the ball much, it found where it exactly needed to be. Blasius also tacked on a 4 passing touchdown performance with a rushing TD added on to boot his stellar game. Oh and not to mention he had scored a defensive touchdown while lined on defense too. Making his overall performance the true definition of an MVP and without a doubt is my Player of the Week. Blasius had a fantastic game and his final stat line line is something you would read out of a video game: 7-9, 254 yards, 4 Passing TDs, 1 Rushing TD, and 1 Defensive TD. Without a doubt, a player that embodies a star in the making and someone to watch the rest of the year.
Julian Scott Julian Scott 5'11" | WR Rapid City Stevens | 2023 State – WR, Rapid City Stevens
Scott was a critical playmaking receiver for his team this past week and his stat line mixed with his play showed us so. Scott is a speedy deep-threat style of receiver who can pull passes like it is unnatural and can make adjustments to help his teams at all costs. He showed out this past week with a fantastic wide-outperformance, he had a total of 179 receiving yards for his team and added quite a few touchdowns to boot. He added a total of 3 receiving TDs and a nice rushing TD to cap off a great performance for the receiver. He was a key piece for his offense attributing to a substantial about of his team’s overall offensive production and yardage, making him someone you want to watch to keep this performance up as the year goes on.
