Lothe is a big framed QB who is able to do everything you’d ask of him. He’s someone who drips with his confidence and understands his game and what he does best. He’s a lefty who likes to sit in the pocket and deal some heat. Lothe is good enough of an athlete to take off and extend plays or rip off a run here and there. While not his strong-suit, he’s capable. Lothe is best when he’s able to sit back, get in a rhythm, and move the ball down the field with 3 and 5 step drops. He’s able to throw guys open and isn’t afraid to take risks with the ball. Sometimes it gets him in trouble, but player development is a real thing so it’s okay to take shots and see what gaps you can and can’t hit. Lothe is fairly sound and doesn’t get rattled easily either. He’s got a nice ball and can put it on a line or over the top of a defender. Lothe is someone who can develop into a starter at the next level and win a ton of games.
Jimmy McDonald – Terre Haute North – OL – 6’0″ 270lbs – 2023
McDonald is an aggressive player who is willing to get down and dirty and make the grimy unseen plays. Offensively, he’s fantastic on the move and in the running game. He’s got a decent center of gravity which gives him leverage. He’s strong enough to hold his own against the pass rush as well. While there’s some development to be done, he’s still able to make plays. He’s off the ball quickly and likes to get his guy on the ground. He won’t panic when beat to the inside and knows how to save himself form time to time. There are times McDonald can rise a bit too high out of his stance, but a minor thing that can easily be cleaned up. McDonald is sound, helping move the chains on a regular basis, and is going to develop nicely at the collegiate level.
Tyler Fessel – Corydon – QB – 6’1″ 170lbs – 2023
Fessel is an intriguing prospect because he’s got the tools and raw abilities to develop at the next level. He’s got a decent frame and can stand in the pocket. He’s athletic enough to take off and run as well to move the chains. He’s not the most dynamic athlete, but good enough to keep the defense honest. Earlier this year, he broke off a 60+ yard TD run. Fessel’s accuracy is what stands out the most. He’s able to get the ball in some really tight windows to where only his guy can get it. He’s able to put some mustard on the ball within about 20-yards to get it there with urgency. His arm is decent and he’s got a nice touch to his deep ball. He’s comfortable in the pocket and won’t panic when things break down around him. Fessel is someone who could get into the right college program and become a star for them.
Luke Hansen – Roncalli – RB – 5’11” 205lbs – 2023
Hansen is a ton of fun to watch. Anytime he touches the ball, he’s a legit threat to score. He’s got home-run speed, is incredibly tough and physical, and is able to wear defenders down. Hansen is an elite athlete and his wrestling history is a huge reason he’s such a good back. Being able to control your body, react quickly, and have the strength to fight through contact is how to play RB. Similar traits on the wrestling mat which is why Hansen is so good. He’s able to do some things other RBs aren’t because of his balance and strength. Hansen doesn’t make a ton of guys miss, but he’ll break a bunch of tackles. He’s a strong runner which good vision and the home-run speed. He’s hard to bring down and gets better as the game goes on. He’s lighting it up this year and should be getting much more love than he currently is.
Bo Polston Bo Polston 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Decatur Central | 2026 State IN – Decatur Central – QB – 6’2″ 185lbs – 2023
Polston is one of the best freshman QBs in the state and he’s doing exactly what he should when he’s on the field. Move the ball and score TDs. He’s someone we covered this summer with the anticipation he’d get his chance, and sure enough, he’s not let us down. He’s got a fantastic frame and the athleticism to go with it. He’s got a really good arm, especially for his age. He’s able to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball when taking a hit. This past week, he hung almost 400 passing yards and 3 TDs against a really good Plainfield team. Polston checks every box for a young incoming QB. He’s going to develop over the next 3.5 years and be one of the best QBs when he comes out. He’s just getting started and playing with a high level of confidence. As that confidence grows, he’s going to get better and better. Keep an eye on Polston over the next few years. He’s got the potential to be a really special one.
Jontae Lambert – North Side – RB – 5’10” 180lbs – 2023
Lambert is someone who stands out so obviously it’s hard to miss him. Just look for the guy faster, shiftier, and better than everyone else around him and that’s Lambert. He’s able to weave through traffic like the best of them. He’s got some of the best short-area agility you’ll see as well. He’s got quick feet and sees the holes developing. There’s no hesitation in his game and gets more juice as the game goes on. Whether it’s a designed screen pass for him or a run, the offense is designed to go through him first. Lambert is more than capable of holding up with the workhorse role. So far this year, he’s one the leading rushers in the country with over 1200 through half the season. Lambert is a freakish athlete who is just starting to scrape the surface of his potential. Wherever he ends up, they’re going to get a special one with Lambert and I imagine he’ll make an impact sooner rather than later for them as well.
