Continue ReadingCannon Mac’s Head coach Mike Evans made the post season in 2021 & aims to make another run in 22′. Pittsburgh Central Catholic will be out for blood after dropping two close contests in back to back weeks verses Mt. Lebanon & an undefeated North Allegheny. The Vikings will rely heavily on their FBS prospects such as Anthony Speca Anthony Speca 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA , Cole Sullivan Cole Sullivan 6'3" | 210 lbs | LB Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA , and Peter Gonzalez Peter Gonzalez 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2024 State PA to name a few. Both squads arrive into week 6 with a record of 2-3 respectively. The Vikings won’t have it any easier attempting to get back in the win column vs Evans & company. Last week PCC was without their leading rusher in Amari Shields Amari Shields ATH Pittsburgh Central Catholic | 2025 State PA which could’ve made the difference in the 7-3 defeat. Cannon Mac will have to rely on their prospects like QB Mike Evans Jr., WR Austin Winkleblech, OL Andrew Kocan, LB Kent McMahon Kent McMahon 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Canon-McMillan | 2023 State PA and DE/TE Kaeden Singleton Kaeden Singleton 6'2" | 225 lbs | DL Canon-McMillan | 2024 State PA to name a few.
Check out my complete breakdown of Central Catholic’s prospects here:
Evans has had a productive career thus far at QB & he continues to display collegiate potential. He’s a pocket QB that has the ability to buy time scrambling if need be. It’s clear that he’s a coaches’ son watching his sharpness on play action. Mike consistently completes passes on all 3 levels from the pocket. Evans also throws an accurate deep ball, & he possesses the arm strength to fit passes into small windows. He’s skilled at going through his progressions & keeping his eyes downfield while scrambling. The lefty has already broken numerous passing records & still has more time for production.
Austin Winkleblech
Austin Winkleblech
Winkleblech is a multi-sport athlete that’s committed to play baseball at Pitt. Austin is an above average punter & a smooth WR with sub 4.5 speed. He runs his routes with good forward lean eating up DB cushions. He has strong hands & consistently makes skilled catches away from his body. Winkleblech has displayed good WR technique getting in & out of his breaks & defeating reroutes. He’s tough & isn’t afraid to make receptions in traffic. He also has a strong leg & is known to boom punts. Last year he punted a 70 yard punt & 50 yds of it was in air.
Noah Livesay
Noah Livesay
Noah has garnered some FCS & D2 attention so far on the recruiting front. He is physical and plays with good physical nastiness. I think collegiately Livesay will play center, but he will also be capable of playing guard. He’s athletic enough to effectively get blocks on the second level. The 2023 prospect is good at down-blocking, pass protection & combo blocking on interior rush plays. Noah’s best days on the offensive line are still ahead of him luckily.
Andrew Kocan
Andrew Kocan
Andrew committed to FCS Virginia Military Institute this past summer. He possesses good OL footwork along with violent hands. Andy’s fluid movements give him the capability of blocking LB’s on the second level. He plays with a high level of strength & physicality consistently. Kocan has good hand placement run blocking & pass protecting. Andrew is the headliner on an overall gifted offensive line at Cannon Mac.
Kent’s first offer came by way of Dayton, but he’s on several FCS program’s radar now. McMahon has the size at 6’2 215 and the physicality to match. He is consistently productive causing sacks, TFLs & turnovers on defense. He doesn’t allow ball carriers the opportunity to wiggle out of his tackles. Kent has a good football IQ with sharpe play recognition. He does a great job making open field tackles & zone dropping. He’s always a threat blitzing that team’s have to account for. Through the first half of the season McMahon has had some explosive hits at LB. Head coach Mike Evans will need to count on his D1 prospect more than ever this week.
Kaeden has been getting FBS attention but no offers as of yet. Singleton has the frame to add more weight & still obtain athleticism. His overall ability is apparent when he’s flexed out at TE running routes. I like his get off & pass rush ability at DE the most. At 6’2 he has the height to get into throwing lanes & make it difficult for opposing QBs. It’s evident that he’s still improving with shedding blocks, but he has natural instincts pursuing ball carriers. At TE his physicality is on display pancaking defenders on his game highlights. Singleton will also be valuable on special teams on the next level for some lucky program.
Liam Reamer
Liam Reamer
Reamer is a O line prospect that FBS programs have been keeping tabs on. Liam is the largest lineman on a team full of size & strength. He plays with a low pad level and good bend in his OL stance. The 2024 OL has a strong punch, and he has the ability to drive defenders out of the box. All of Cannon Mac’s OL have good footwork pass setting in pass protection & so does Reamer. It’s evident in the new film from 22′ that Liam’s strength has improved from his sophomore campaign.
Geno has a A1 motor & pursues the ball from sideline to sideline. He processes plays quickly and moves well laterally tracking RBs. His strength is apparent & he plays bigger than his 205 lbs frame. He has the ability to blitz & make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Geno has been timed at a 4.6 & displays good overall quickness. Calgaro constantly defeats would be blockers with speed on film. He’s presently being recruited by FBS & FCS universities.
Highlights
Austin Hillebrand
Austin Hillebrand
Austin is active player on defense in the run & pass game. He runs the alley with aggression & makes solid tackles when he’s in the box. He is a smart player that analyzes plays quickly. Hillebrand is a decent athlete that plays centerfield well on the backend. The senior DB has decent ball skills & aggressively contest passes from the Safety position.
Jake Kasper
Jake Kasper
Jake has good quickness and patience running the football. He’s skilled at setting up his blocks and bursting by defenders. Kasper displays elusive ability & can make defenders miss inside the hole. On the majority of his runs it takes more than one defender to bring him down. Through the first 4 games Kasper has amassed 562 yds rushing with 6 TDs.
