Continue ReadingColorado football power Valor Christian went to Boulder Friday and scored another solid win in Week 3 of the 2022 season, beating legendary coach Tom McCartney and Fairview 38-15.
The Eagles dropped from 5A No. 2 in the preseason CHSAA rankings after a loss to Regis Jesuit in their opener before responding with wins over No. 10 Pine Creek and Fairview.
Fairview dropped to 2-1 on the season.
Here are five players who shined on a rainy night at Christian Recht Field.
Gavin Bibik, Valor Christian: The senior defensive back was covering Fairview’s best receiver, Jordan Rechel Jordan Rechel 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Fairview | 2025 State CO , when he came down with an interception in the first quarter Friday.
The track sprinter (who can run a 4.6-second 40 per his recruiting page) and lacrosse player has two interceptions in three games.
Zach Lewis Zach Lewis 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Fairview | 2023 State CO , Fairview: The 38th-ranked senior in the state, Lewis began the game, bull-rushing through the offensive line to record a tackle for loss.
Lewis was stout defensively against Valor Christian, which overpowered the Knights much elsewhere. The 6-2, 220-pound prospect also rushed 15 times for 84 yards.
He has an offer from Coastal Carolina and has been linked in talks with Colorado, Iowa State, Wisconsin and Kansas State, among others.
Jordan Rechel Jordan Rechel 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Fairview | 2025 State CO , Fairview: The sophomore caught nine balls for 114 yards and a score. He also had seven rushes for 33 and another score.
A sure-bet D-I talent, Rechel has the speed and athleticism to rival any sophomore in the state. He currently has 23 receptions for 335 yards and three scores in three games in 2022.
The wideout already has an offer from the University of Colorado.
Rowan Risner Rowan Risner 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Fairview | 2024 State CO , Fairview: The junior prospect took over for Fairview with the departure of Bekkem Kritza, who went to California to play at Saint Margarita Catholic High School. And so far, so good.
He’s thrown for 838 yards and 10 scores and six interceptions in three games this season. In the rain Friday, he went 13 of 25 for 131 yards and a score.
Trey Stott Trey Stott 5'11" | 195 lbs | DB Valor Christian | 2023 State CO , Valor Christian: The 5-11, 195-pound senior is ranked as the 44th-best player in the state. Friday, he rushed for 50 yards and a score while helping to limit Fairview’s high-octane passing attack.
Stott has rushed for 110 yards and three scores in three games this season.
