What if Grand Rapids Union makes the Playoffs?
Keeping it honest, this is a program that has gone 14-146 since 2004, making them one of, if not the historically worst program in Michigan High School Football. So how the heck could they make the playoffs?

is how.
After decades of being bottom feeders, Union went 4-5 last season, almost shocking the world against Mona Shores. The young talent is some of the best in the state, while their schedule is as demanding as any. I don’t think it’s unlikely Union starts the season 4-0 before facing Mona Shores during week 5.
But what if they actually do it?
It would mean everything for the Union community and the City of Grand Rapids. A chance to likely face a team such as Rockford during round 1 would be a daunting task, but it would undoubtedly bring the community together and put this program on the map. I’m supposed to be unbiased, but I’m rooting for Union this season.
What if a top recruit sits or goes to college early?
I have to admit, I’m pulling this out of thin air, but we’ve seen it happen before, like with Quinn Ewers in 2020. If any top recruit decides it’s best for them to step away in preparation for college, it could reshape the entire state landscape.
What if

leads Mott to a State Title?
A historically good but not great team led by an extremely experienced Head Coach, Waterford Mott comes into the 2022 season with high expectations. This team is a playoff lock, but how far they’ll go will largely depend on how the team and Osborne play in big situations. If Kalieb Osborne Kalieb Osborne 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Waterford Mott | 2024 State MI plays lights-out and wins a ring, likely against a historic powerhouse, it could have a Brady Drogosh Brady Drogosh 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB De La Salle | 2023 State MI type effect. What I mean by this is after the 2021 State Championships, Drogosh got put on the map and received many offers. If a QB like Osborne can do the same, his recruitment would soar.
What if Landon Grove resumes the West Catholic Dynasty?
Here’s a good one. Ever since Dan Rohn left WC and rebuilt De La Salle, West Catholic has been great, but never the powerhouse they used to be. After a 10-2 2020 season, Justin Michalowski was fired, and Landon Grove was hired. Grove, a former Ferris State Tight End, led Carlson to a 9-2 record last season which included a share of the demanding Downriver League Title. Since the hiring, local media and players alike can’t seem to stop raving about Landon Grove.

. I’m extremely excited to see what this team can do this season, and if Landon Grove can live up to the sky-high expectations.
