Robbie Labuda
Here’s the epitome of an athlete for Mount Pleasant. Even more intriguing considering he stands at 6’3 running the way he does. Labuda contributed on the ground, through the air, and on special teams, returning two kicks for huge gains, one of which went the house. Mt. Pleasant came away with the loss, but have to be happy with what they have in Robbie Labuda.
Boyd Skarbek
Boyd Skarbek
Boyd Skarbek, a junior running back out of Pope John Paul II had himself a Fall debut, running for just over 150 yards for three scores. The three scores decided this game and helped put Archbishop Carroll away with the help of the solid PJP defense. Skarbek’s night didn’t come easy, there are a ton of tough, hard-nosed runs in his tape. The kid flashed some wiggle in the open field, but Skarbek will be successful all year thanks to his tough running style and ability to set up his blocks at all levels. He has a solid feel to the position, this won’t be his last good outing.
Karter Schrock
Karter Schrock
Here’s some tape you don’t see every day. Apollo-Ridge’s Karter Schrock forced and recovered a fumble early for AR, then proceeded to start at quarterback, where he proved he can beat teams with his arm or legs. Not often do you see a quarterback who can second as an OLB/DE and make plays on defense. We might rank Schrock as a quarterback, yet his ability to run the ball and provide defensive reps might have us leaning towards the ATH designation. Schrock combined for 300 total scrimmage yards last weekend.
Amir Key
Amir Key
Although Penn Hills came away the loser in this matchup, I may have found a new name out of the program that I was previously unfamiliar with. That’s junior running back Amir Key, who ran for 136 yards and accounted for two touchdowns on the night. I haven’t seen too much tape out of the Penn Hills program, so as of right now, this kid might have been the lone bright spot. Considering the talent pool present, I’m sure that wasn’t the case. Shoutout to Key would put up a nice line.
Mohamed Koroma
Mohamed Koroma
The unranked wideout went for three scores against Susquehanna Township. I’m sure the STHS DBs will have nightmares of Koroma running wild in the secondary. That he did, as most of the 140 yards were accumulated after the catch, as Koroma took two different screens the distance. The kid has some open field vision and straight-line speed to be unlocked. Exciting first tape to uncover considering I haven’t heard of this young man. Now I have. My eyes will be peeled from here on out.
