Braxton Pritchett (Vianney)

A defensive end for the Golden Griffins, Pritchett who is more known for his volleyball skills was very active on defense. He managed to get into the backfield and got a couple of quarterback sacks and deflected multiple passes that led to incompletions. Pritchett has returned to football after a two-year absence but will be a key component for Vianney's defensive line.

Connor Quinn (Eureka)

Many of the Wildcats starters played sporadic reps, but Quinn is a linebacker to keep an eye on. He had a good showing against SLUH and Rockwood Summit with a few tackles in each round and was quick to react to anything. A senior, Quinn registered 68 total tackles for the Wildcats in 2021 and is expected to lead the defense this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='126261' first='Grant' last='Gibson'] (Summit)

A junior quarterback who transferred from Fox, Gibson displayed fresh hope for the Falcons that he'll be a more than capable replacement for Mason Brown. Gibson managed the game very well against Eureka with accurate downfield passing one of which dropped and a play-action over the top pass was completed for a long gain. Overall he was 6-for-8 passing against Eureka and SLUH.

[player_tooltip player_id='308364' first='Jace' last='Peterson'] (Eureka)

Eureka's new quarterback managed his time on the field well. A 6-foot senior, Peterson was active in rolling outside the pocket and locating receivers on the run with accurate passing. Peterson also showcased decent running/scrambling ability and will be a useful candidate to take off and run for read-options alongside running back [player_tooltip player_id='199041' first='Kevin' last='Emmanuel'].

[player_tooltip player_id='101712' first='Jack' last='Burke'] (Vianney)

Arguably the best and most productive player for the Golden Griffins a year ago, [player_tooltip player_id='101712' first='Jack' last='Burke'] will continue to excel in that leading role. Burke caught two touchdowns against Eureka and was also very active defensively against Rockwood Summit. In 2021, Burke led the Golden Griffins with 598 receiving yards with 56 catches and four touchdowns. On defense, at linebacker, he was third on the team in tackles with 41.

[player_tooltip player_id='181558' first='Jacobi' last='Oliphant'] (SLUH)

In a receiving core that has [player_tooltip player_id='125255' first='Ryan' last='Wingo'], [player_tooltip player_id='103409' first='Zach' last='Ortwerth'], and Jalen Pace who all have Power Five offers, [player_tooltip player_id='181558' first='Jacobi' last='Oliphant'] is another very capable option. He showed why at Eureka as he was the most active receiver out of the four teams. Oliphant, who stands at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds hauled in two touchdown receptions. The first one was an impressive 38-yard reception in which he caught the pass on the run, stopped, and then cut back inside to ensure the touchdown. Oliphant will also feature as a cornerback for the Jr. Billikens on defense.

Jason Kirk (Summit)

Another player on a team with defensive studs like [player_tooltip player_id='130643' first='Dominic' last='Bentrup'] and [player_tooltip player_id='300181' first='Dominic' last='Nenninger'], Kirk is a linebacker that will quietly continue to be productive. He was particularly active against Vianney and Eureka getting multiple tackles in each round. In 2021, Kirk accumulated 66 total tackles along with four sacks for the Falcons.

Louis Kertz (SLUH)

One of the better linebackers in the St. Louis metro area last year continued to look the part on Friday night. The senior linebacker made his presence known early against Eureka's massive offensive line and tallied three tackles in the first four plays of the jamboree. Kertz is going to be the anchor of SLUH's defense after leading the team with 125 total tackles and five sacks.

[player_tooltip player_id='126209' first='Marco' last='Sansone'] (SLUH)

A newcomer at quarterback for the Jr. Billikens, Sansone showed a lot of promise for what could come to be a great season. A 6-foot junior, Sansone tallied three touchdown passes in limited action including a 38-yard reception on his second snap against Eureka's starting defense to [player_tooltip player_id='181558' first='Jacobi' last='Oliphant']. Sansone displayed good composure in the pocket and showed a bit of speed on a few scrambles.
