Key Players to Watch
Gabe Zeldes | WR/DB | Senior | Hudl
Last year Zeldes had an outstanding one-handed interception on a tipped pass. On the same play he then proceeded to make multiple defenders miss and run into the end-zone for a pick-6. Zeldes moves very well when playing zone coverage and tracks the ball very well when it’s in the air. Zeldes is a great wide receiver as well and does a great job of getting open over the middle of the field. He has very good acceleration and can easily run by defenders after the catch.
Gabe Winowich | RB/DE | Junior | Hudl
Winowich has excellent patience and does a great job of waiting for his blockers to set-up before he hits the hole. Winowich has very good play strength and it shows up in his ability to stiff arm defenders to the ground. I love that Winowich can and will make multiple cuts when carrying the football to find open lanes and get as much yardage as possible.
Winowich is a great defensive end for Country Day as well. He can fly off the line of scrimmage, showing ability to stop the run and rush the passer as well. There are many plays at running back where Winowich will refuse to go down. Look for a big season for Winowich as he enters only his junior year this season. I expect him to run the ball a lot and believe that his physical running will become an identity for this Country Day team.
Graham Doman Graham Doman 5'10" | 195 lbs | LB Detroit Country Day | 2023 MI | RB/LB | Senior | Hudl
Doman is fearless when he blitzes and combines tremendous acceleration with proper angles to fly in the back field and create tackles for loss. I love that Doman is relentless when blitzing quarterbacks. Doman also kicks off for the team and will fly down field, making big hits. He has the ability at the linebacker position to bend around blocks while staying in balance which is very impressive. He does a great job of working through traffic and will run down ball carriers anywhere on the field.
Eric Grenadier Eric Grenadier 6'5" | 280 lbs | OL Detroit Country Day | 2023 MI | OL | Senior | Hudl
Grenadier has good feet at the tackle position and moves laterally very well. He keeps a good wide base and his athleticism allows him stay in front of opposing defenders. He has very good play strength and it is apparent in his ability to hold anchor in pass protection. Grenadier’s game is smooth and he nearly never has any wasted movements. He has strong hands and uses them well to control defenders.
