<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>TAMPA JESUIT FOOTBALL</strong><strong> 2022</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Head Coach:</strong> Matthew Thompson</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>2021 Record:</strong> 15-0 (6A State Champions)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>THE TIGERS<br></strong>Last September 3^rd, this program took a huge leap when they beat yearly national powerhouse Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, 24-21.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While the game may not have meant much to some football fans, it was just about everything to the Tigers who have fought to get in that elite national spotlight for a decade, only to be turned back by south Florida teams.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On this night, the Tigers believed that any team the rest of the way would be a formality, and they were – as they finished unbeaten and got by a stubborn Pensacola Pine Forest in the title game, 35-29.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Along the way, this program got up for&nbsp; every challenge, beating Ocala West Port (35-0), Valrico Bloomingdale (32-14), Tampa Hillsborough (28-7), Plant City (35-13), Clearwater Central Catholic (35-21), Tampa Jefferson (24-0), Tampa Blake (44-0), Tampa King (56-0) and Tampa Catholic (42-0) in the regular season – and Gulfport Boca Ciega (50-0), Bradenton Braden River (49-9), Tampa Hillsborough again, 42-0, national power Miami Northwestern (37-12) and Pine Forest in the championship game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The off-season was indeed something special.
