Team Preview: Clayton Comets Making a Statement

I have begun team previews of some of the top teams in the Raleigh/Durham region.&nbsp; There are a lot of talented players throughout the region.&nbsp; The previews will highlight the recruits on the teams featured.&nbsp; A high level of competition is expected as the high school season starts in late August. The Clayton High School Comets have a new head coach and a new quarterback.&nbsp; They have a very competitive schedule and are looking to make a statement.&nbsp; <strong>Josh Anderson (6'1" 190, QB)</strong> will step up and direct the offense during the upcoming season.&nbsp; He has displayed good velocity on his passes during a couple of summer camps.&nbsp; Josh will hand the ball off to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="379377" first="Nehemiah" last="Smith"] (5'9" 160, RB) and [player_tooltip player_id="379378" first="Nadir" last="Simmons"] (5'11" 200, RB)</strong>.&nbsp; Nehemiah will use his speed to accelerate past defenders in the open field to gain yardage.&nbsp; Nadir is a power runner with good balance as he gains tough yardage on inside running.&nbsp; Josh will deliver passes to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="379375" first="Ian" last="Martin"] (6'2" 185, WR) and [player_tooltip player_id="379376" first="Mason" last="KuyKendall"] (5'10" 170, WR)</strong>.&nbsp; Ian and Mason run good pass routes and separation from defenders to make catches.&nbsp; <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="338914" first="Zach" last="Klingenbeck"] (6'5" 305, OL) and [player_tooltip player_id="144941" first="Will" last="Coats"] (6'4" 285, OL)</strong> will use their upper body strength and technique to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs and protecting the quarterback.&nbsp; Zach and Will are expected to lead and anchor the offensive line. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="339178" first="Chris" last="Kinsey"] (6'2" 285, DL)</strong> will use technique and upper body strength to control blockers while moving past them to make stops.&nbsp; He is expected to lead and anchor the defensive line.&nbsp; <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="379379" first="Alejandro" last="Rubio"] (5'10" 185, LB), [player_tooltip player_id="293262" first="Aaron" last="Foster"] (5'10" 215, LB), and [player_tooltip player_id="379380" first="Christian" last="Harrell"] (6'0" 195, LB)</strong> are technique-sound linebackers who move well laterally to make stops.&nbsp; Alejandro finished last season with 38 total tackles, 5 of the tackles were for losses.&nbsp; Christian finished last season with 31 total tackles, 2 of the tackles were for losses.&nbsp; <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="144940" first="John" last="Amerson"] (5'8" 150, DB) and [player_tooltip player_id="379382" first="Deon" last="Harris"] (6'0" 160, DB)</strong> are technique-sound defensive backs who rely on their speed to blanket receivers, making it difficult to make catches.&nbsp; Clayton is expected to compete for the conference crown and advance into the state playoffs.
