As they look to take their sophomore season snaps underway in the coming months, we’ve seen a number of stock risers across all positions. Without further ado, let’s dive into Part 2 of our Stock Risers.
Logan Malachuk Logan Malachuk 5'11" | 175 lbs | QB Nazareth Academy | 2025 State IL Twitter
Mr. Malachuk is one of the few freshman QBs that started on Varsity this last fall season. His ability to add easy velocity across all level throws (level 1, level 2, and level 3) when he works both in platform and on the move are one to keep an eye on, especially for how young of a player he is. He’s only going to continue to hone his craft and improve his skill set further. Let’s not forget that he’s able to hit the hole shots along the sideline in between the safety over the top and cornerback underneath as well as his ability to sell play action. The potential of this young man is extremely high and I look forward to him continuing to put on a show over the course of his high school career.
Tyler Lofton Tyler Lofton 6'0" | 210 lbs | RB Marian Catholic | 2025 State IL Twitter
Mr. Lofton is a young man that’s been on my radar for some time now and one that is primed to blow up once he gets Varsity snaps under his belt. This young man not only has good vision to find running lanes quickly between the tackles and outside the tackles, once he gains a step on the second level defenders he’s off to the races utilizing his 4.55 40 speed to get into the endzone for six. A true N/S style runner that can utilize his one cut and go to break long runs gashing the opposing defenses. Marian Catholic has themselves another talented halfback in their program, one that has such a high upside I wouldn’t be surprised if he gains an offer after his sophomore season performance.
John Behmer John Behmer 6'2" | 190 lbs | LB Rockford Lutheran | 2025 IL Twitter
Mr. Behmer works as a standup defensive end/outside linebacker, his ability to close on the ball carrier is one to keep an eye on both in run support and during his pass rush. This young man can not only slip blocks to disrupt plays in the backfield, he can also be used as a force player to take the kickout block head on on outside the tackle runs and force the play back inside (in a few instances he even blows up the run block & secures the tackle for loss). When he comes in his pass rush he uses his quickness out of his stance to take the edge on the offensive tackle before he closes quickly on the quarterback to secure the sack before the quarterback even has time to react. All in all, Mr. Behmner has a high ceiling heading into this upcoming fall season and one that you should keep an eye on moving forward.
Burke Gautcher Burke Gautcher 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR Sycamore | 2025 State IL Twitter
Mr. Gautcher reminds me of the type of arm strength that Standout Eli Meier Eli Meier 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Sycamore | 2023 State IL has as this young man is able to not only hit deep shots downfield when he’s set in platform, but also when he’s working off balance and isn’t able to follow through as there’s a defender in his face. It’s the high potential here that puts him so high in our rankings. If the play breaks down, this young man is able to slide in the pocket and keep his eyes downfield to find an outlet for the completion downfield. I’m very interested to see his production this fall season and how his skill set develops moving forward. Be sure to keep an eye on this young man.
Jack Elliott Jack Elliott 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Mount Carmel | 2025 State IL Twitter
Mr. Elliott is a young man that’s been on my radar for a while and one that I got to see in person during our recent PRZ IL Showcase. His ability to stand strong to get the ball off under pressure is one to keep an eye on moving forward. What stands out the most is his ability to make multiple types of throws on different throwing angles to get the ball into the receiver’s basket. This is seen when he runs RPOs getting the defenders to bite down before he either rips it into the soft spot in the coverage or can add a touch on the ball for his reciever to go up and get it over the top. Let’s not forget his ability to make something out of nothing with his legs when the play breaks down. Here, he’s able to showcase his elusiveness of making the first defender miss before finding an alley to break a long run to keep the chains moving. Another high potential Caravan QB in the ranks.
Jackson Alcorn Jackson Alcorn 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Burlington Central | 2025 State IL Twitter
Mr. Alcorn is a new name to me but he showcases glimpses of the type of player that he can be in the near future. He provides glimpses of working on the move and putting the ball right into the receiver’s basket on the completion downfield. If the play breaks down, he has the ability to pull the ball down to scramble and either pick up a few yards on the play or come away with the first down. What’s going to be one to keep an eye on moving forward is how consistent he can be with hitting all level throws as he showcases glimpses of it in his highlights.
