As we look ahead to growing our 2024 rankings in the coming month or less, I wanted to dive into five prospects I feel have what it takes to play at the next level and should start to see more attention once full contact can be had with the 2024 class. These were the first five on our list I would be looking at in the Dakotas, without offers yet that look to create a bigger buzz this summer, and their future 2022 season coming starting in August.
Ethan Evanson Ethan Evanson 6'3" | 270 lbs | OL Watford City | 2024 State ND | Watford City (ND)
I will be honest, the film that Ethan has is not a ton at the moment, but it is what he puts out on that limited tape that strikes a chord he will be a next level prospect upfront in the coming years. He shows off that finishing physicality that college coaches love in his 6’3 250 pound frame and I am sure is growing an even more stout frame this summer in Watford City. He shows instinctive hands that off the snap is ready to throw down and can catch the defender to the ground early when they are just starting to get their balance. He also shows off a solid level of pass protection and his quick hands shove the defender far away from his QB1. He also brings a bend at the line that lines up well to develop stronger technique into this summer and fall, that some added coaching will grow with. I would like to see that finish come thru stronger into the second level along with adjusting his hand placement slight lower to gain more leverage which will add physicality. I have had in my gut since I first watched Ethan’s tape last year that he will be a college-level hog molly.
Dawson Wood Dawson Wood 6'1" | 250 lbs | OL Spearfish | 2024 State SD | Spearfish (SD)
College coaches want agility from the center position, and the way Dawson Wood Dawson Wood 6'1" | 250 lbs | OL Spearfish | 2024 State SD of Spearfish’s feet work he has that quick agility I would be looking for looking at the next level. He shows that anchoring ability to be an enforcer when his ball carrier gets into the second level and shows all the physicality you can ask for from a 6’2 250 pounder. His hands are feisty and just looking to make contact, and his pad level raise the bar when you break down his tape to be a leader as the man in the middle of the trenches. He also shows promise with his shoving ability from an angle which is some I believe he can grow stronger on when we look into summer practices in Spearfish. Certainly a hog molly I could see in the RMAC, NSIC or at the NAIA level from what my eyes can see. I am excited to hopefully get to see Dawson at prospect camps at the Dakota schools this summer.
Tim Nunn Tim Nunn 6'3" | 230 lbs | OL Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD | Sioux Falls Lincoln (SD)
Tim was a prospect I got onto my radar while scouting the rivalry game between Sioux Falls Lincoln and Sioux Falls Jefferson last fall, and was one prospect on that Patriots offensive line I did not know about beforehand, but struck a chord once I could watch him in a live game setting as another offensive tackle on our next-level list. Tim doesn’t need much time on tape to pack a massive punch and tear even a solid defensive linemen into the Howard Wood turf, which is something he did consistently on tape last season for the Pats. He too has another level he can pack on in a game setting and from a hands perspective maintained a consistent pad level thru and thru. He showed that he has a finisher type grip with his hands, and we would love to see more of that skillset come to light in the 2022 season. At 6’3 230 pounds, I would certainly say Tim Nunn Tim Nunn 6'3" | 230 lbs | OL Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD has the highest ceiling as far as potential goes at the next-level amongst all the prospects on this growing short list.
Travon Littlefield Travon Littlefield 6'0" | 220 lbs | OL Dickinson | 2024 State ND | Dickinson (ND)
Travon was a prospect we identified last November and I still cannot figure out why there isn’t more bite on this kid. Once this young man gets out of his stance on a pull block, he resembles a train trucking downhill that will smash you in the mouth with his physicality. He brings the same heavy juice on the other side of the line too, as he maintains swift hands that get off defenders quickly into the backfield. He shows a smooth demeanor on both sides of the line and doesn’t get at all flustered when that linebacker comes crashing into his territory looking for a fight. He has the quick feet of a deer that just prances softly into the rugged terrain of the trenches of the offensive line. I will say this now so we can look later, more tape coming in 2022 for this young man will have college coaches kicking themselves they did not learn about him sooner. Expecting a huge year for this 6’1 260 pounder out of Dickinson.
Ryland Satter Ryland Satter 6'3" | 215 lbs | ATH Sioux Falls O'Gorman | 2024 State SD | Sioux Falls O’Gorman (SD)
Rylan might be one of the smallest offensive linemen on this list (6’2 215 at the moment), but the way this young man places his hands and the leverage he picks up off of his shove, makes me believe there is a lot more juice in that tank of his in the coming years. He offers safe pass protection that can get into that second level and give one of the top QBs in the Dakotas, Bennett Dannenbring Bennett Dannenbring 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB SF O'Gorman | 2023 State plenty of space to operate in and outside the pocket. Once this young man gets stronger into this summer into fall, I see his finesse growing with his punching ability as when he did show off that physical skillset, it showed prime athleticism of what is to come. Still a little raw right now in my eyes, but certainly one offensive linemen in the 2024 class for the Knights that I will be keeping heavy tabs on in the 2022 season.
