We are glad to welcome in new additions to our 2023 Prep Redzone Pennsylvania Rankings this weekend. Our "New Additions" piece will highlight some of the new names that have been introduced to the rankings. Over 200+ new names have been discovered throughout my travels, that including camps and showcases, team practices, 7v7 tournaments as well as word of mouth from coaches around the state. Below are just some of the need defensive backs on our recent update. We hope to see each climb our rankings in the future.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="357952" first="Tyshawn" last="Russell"] | 6’2, 185 | Bishop McDevitt</strong></span></em></span>
A busy May has thrusted [player_tooltip player_id="357952" first="Tyshawn" last="Russell"] up our rankings, debuting in the top 110 of his class. Not sure how someone who fits the mold, from a premier-talent school, slipped through our cracks. Better late than never, as the long-limbed Bishop McDevitt defensive back recently earned his first two division one offers from Maine and Central Michigan. A look at this kid’s tape will show you he’s deserving of this spot even without the offers.

<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="358054" first="Del" last="Jackson III"] | 6’0, 175 | La Salle College</strong></span></em></span>
Here’s a great example of why it is important for scouts at Prep Redzone to get their boots on the ground and attend 7v7 tournaments from time to time. I stumbled upon this young man at a Philly’s Finest tournament where he showed up and showed out, representing La Salle College HS. Every time I look up it seems like [player_tooltip player_id="358054" first="Del" last="Jackson III"] is somewhere training, somewhere working hard to earn everything that might be coming his way. His work got him noticed by Prep Redzone, hopefully we can help coaches notice him as well.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Curtis Bryant Jr. | 6’2, 160 | Chambersburg Area </strong></span></em></span>
Another active 7v7 prospect who possesses quality tape. He possesses a quality build too, much like [player_tooltip player_id="357952" first="Tyshawn" last="Russell"]. He could certainly beef up a bit in the weight room. Nonetheless, the young man’s offseason has earned him a spot on the rankings. Bryant isn’t one-dimensional player either, providing quality wideout reps for CAHS when needed.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="358113" first="Wyatt" last="Younes"] | 5’11, 170 | Catasauqua</strong></span></em></span>
Impressive production out of the 2nd-team All-League CB, who put up some serious work at all three phases of the game. Younes might be deserving of an "ATH" designation, nonetheless, the catasauqua junior displays some of the best all-around tape from anyone in his area. Has ball skills and ball awareness on both sides of the ball. Can close on the football while staying in-phase with wideouts. Shows he has reps playing off or press. His overall field awareness is through the roof, can run with his man downfield, flip his hips and attack the football if thrown inside the hashes. Would love to do a full breakdown on this kid’s game in the future.

<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="358057" first="Dreyton" last="Wilk"] | 5’11, 190 | Berwick Area</strong></span></em></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="358057" first="Dreyton" last="Wilk"] recorded 7 interceptions last Fall. That alone should be enough for colleges to take a peek at his film. Ball skills are a plus, his first interception was an incredible one-handed grab while tracking the ball for 15+ yards. Route recognition is a plus, as the kid seems to know beforehand where routes are intended to be run. Impressive in run-support, effort to help finish tackles, can also deliver big hits coming downhill from his safety spot. Received an FCS grade out of me.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91816" first="Alex" last="Long"] | 5’11, 200 | Annville-Cleona</strong></span></em></span>
Outstanding GPA, combined with great safety/hybrid linebacker play has landed [player_tooltip player_id="91816" first="Alex" last="Long"] on many Ivy League radars. Shouldn’t have taken so long to land on our radar though. Love this young man’s position versatility. Comfortable saying he can play any linebacker spot as well as box safety for AC. Also comfortable handing the ball off to Long, or even have him split out and catch passes if need be. Truly a versatile prospect.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="358270" first="Alexander" last="Yost"] | 6’0, 200 | Altoona Area</strong></span></em></span>
Much that was said about [player_tooltip player_id="91816" first="Alex" last="Long"] can be said about [player_tooltip player_id="358270" first="Alexander" last="Yost"]. Tough to decide where we like him best, as Long and Yost are very similar prospects. Yost can contain the run when playing OLB, he can provide some pass coverage in the inside slot if need be. He’s big enough to be a real run-stopper from his safety spot. There’s a lot to like with Yost. Would love to provide a deeper breakdown sometime in the future.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="358428" first="Elijah" last="Fajardo"] | 5’11, 175 | Emmaus</strong></span></em></span>
Here’s another DB who might still be a tad underrated despite his debut on our rankings. I say this because I could see potential growth in his game that could lead to a boost in recruiting down the line. He’s going to need a breakout Fall, but his skillset could provide value at the DII level. Fajardo recently received a roster spot hold from King’s College. I may include this young man in our DB Breakout Candidates piece at a later date.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="358077" first="Tayshaun" last="Wilkins"] | 6’1, 165 | New Castle</strong></span></em></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="358077" first="Tayshaun" last="Wilkins"] was very very close to receiving a D1 FCS grade out of me. Interested to know why DII’s have yet to reach out. This kid’s tape is certainly one I’d feel comfortable going to bat for. Tayshaun is just as productive a wideout, as he is a defensive back, which explains his ATH designation. Fierce competitor, outstanding field awareness. Good size, would love to see his 165 turn into 185. His debut ranking in the 300’s is a modest one, one that I fully expect will raise this December.
