It was a memorable day for the Wilson product who dominated the competition to earn the combine’s MVP award. Jyron Waiters Jyron Waiters 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Wilson | 2024 State SC showcased his elite speed and outstanding agility in the 40-yard dash and shuttle run before shining in the one-on-one competition drills. An explosive wideout with long arms to extend and make tough catches, Waiters proved why his name should be at the top of the state’s Class of 2024 prospect list.
Derrick Salley, WR, 6-3, 194 pounds, Ashley Ridge
Derrick Salley made his mark on the state’s football radar with an impressive showing in Summerville. The Ashley Ridge standout used his height and long wingspan to excel in the football competition drills and capture the offensive skill award. With a strong frame and the hands to make even the toughest catches, Salley will be a handful for opposing defenses to contain this fall as he looks to further elevate his recruiting stock.
Nik Jefferson, DB, 5-8, 144 pounds, Ashley Ridge
It was an Ashley Ridge sweep of the offensive and defensive skill awards, as defensive back Nik Jefferson captured the top honor on the other side of the ball. Jefferson may not have the height of others on the field on Saturday, but he made up for it with his quickness and his sky-high 34-inch vertical to complement a stellar performance in the shuttle run. He put it all together in the football skills portion with his high motor and alertness on every snap. Jefferson is an outstanding athlete who should be a menace on defense for the Swamp Foxes in 2022.

The James Island quarterback took home a pair of titles in Summerville, capturing the top times in both the L Cone and the pro shuttle. It was a brilliant display of quickness and agility for Braxton Scott Braxton Scott 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB James Island Charter | 2024 State SC who has developed into one of the top prospects under center across the state. With his dynamic mobility in and out of the pocket combined with terrific deep-ball accuracy, Scott should continue to make some waves in the recruiting process heading into the fall of his junior year.

A budding prospect in the making at tight end, Bryce Rothwell Bryce Rothwell 6'4" | 245 lbs | TE Lucy Beckham | 2024 State SC showcased his potential Saturday as he prepares for a key season this fall. The Lucy Beckham Bengal possesses a strong frame while showing off outstanding quickness for his position. A solid blocker with the ability to find open space and make defenders miss as a receiver, Rothwell is developing the talent to become a standout over in Charleston this fall.

It was a banner day for wide receivers, and Jamorius Wilson was another who separated himself in Summerville. The Marion product showed off his blazing speed, posting the day’s fastest 40-yard dash time of 4.42 seconds. His elite quickness is complemented by good height and the athleticism to shine on deep catches downfield. Expect Wilson to build off this eye-popping performance on Saturday as he prepares for a key junior year.

Mickey Wilson continues to churn out talent for the next level at Myrtle Beach, and he’s cultivated another gem in Malachi Washington Malachi Washington 5'9" | 160 lbs | RB Myrtle Beach | 2024 State SC . The junior running back dominated the shuttle run and L Cone drill while showcasing his athleticism in the broad jump. A quick and explosive runner who can use quick cutting moves to make defenders miss, Washington should play a large role in the Seahawks’ backfield in 2022 and will be a talent to watch going forward.
Ben Bessinger, OL, 5-10, 235 pounds, West Ashley
He may not be the biggest on the line, but Ben Bessinger stood out amongst a group of highly skilled rising juniors in Summerville. Bessinger is an outstanding competitor with terrific quickness and a high motor to help him win the battle at the line of scrimmage. The West Ashley product caught the coaches’ eyes thanks to his power and tenacity in the trenches and will be a valuable component to the Wildcats this fall.
