TN Future Stars Chattanooga Tryout: Wide Receiver Standouts
Tennessee Future Stars wrapped up their fourth and final tryout this past Sunday in Chattanooga. Players from all over the area came to showcase their talent through various drills and testing. Not all will make a spot on the roster but below are the players that stood out to me in the wide receiver positions.
Deron Glass | Wide Receiver | 2028
Glass came out guns blazing. His quickness of the line to run routes downfield caught my eye. He was able to change directions at a fast pace and juke out defenders. His physical game is above average for the sixth grade and he could easily hold his own against older players. His attentiveness and focus were key in his skill progression through drills. It will be exciting to see him continue his strategic game as he connects with his team this fall.
Lecarrus Moten | Wide Receiver | 2026
Moten will have no problem competing at a high level. His fast speed and acceleration to move downfield were effortless. He was able to find open spaces and get away from the zones of defense. Every ball that was thrown to him he caught and then immediately protected the football which I do not always see at the middle school level. It will be hard to defend him once put onto the field.
Alec Brown | Wide Receiver | 2026
This stud made playing wide receiver look easy. Every movement he made whether it was a slant or curl route was effortless and efficient. His physical stamina showed that he has been putting in the work this offseason. Once the ball was placed in his hands he exploded downfield to pick up yards. As his ability to conceptualize the offense grows, his technicality will continue to develop and there is no doubt he will be a strong player.
Kesean Bowman Kesean Bowman 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Brentwood Academy | 2027 TN | Wide Receiver | 2027
Bowman’s height works to his advantage with his length and reach. His reach for the ball allowed him to make plays that others could not. His concentration and eye-hand coordination helped him stand out amongst the receiver group. I could tell that he takes the game seriously and is serious about developing into a stronger player. His fundamentals were strong and paired with his focus he will become a serious contender on the field come this fall.
Isaac Summey | Wide Receiver | 2026
Summey was a beast on the field. He pushed his body to new limits running routes and exploding downfield. When the ball was thrown to him he would burst through each play. There is no hesitation that Summey would be in the endzone a few times in one game. His intelligence on the field will continue to grow once he gets more reps in with a familiar quarterback. Looking forward to seeing if he secured a spot on the roster.
Ashton Fonn | Wide Receiver | 2026
This eight-grader, while on the smaller side, physically had a very strong tryout. He was fast and intelligent with each route he ran. He was able to keep his eyes up when running downfield to connect with the quarterback. I was impressed by his concentration when instructed through each drill. He is the type of player that any coach would enjoy having on his team. Once he grows physically, he will be a receiver who will make plays consistently.
