Tennessee recently announced its selections for this year’s Future Stars Team. Here’s a look at the 2026 Wide Receivers selected for the 8th grade Tennessee Future Stars.
Bryson Maddox Bryson Maddox 6'3" | 175 lbs | WR Clinton | 2026 TN | Clinton
Selected to the Tennessee Future Stars team for the second year in a row, Maddox is the tallest Wide Receiver on the squad at 6-foot-3. His height is an obvious advantage at this level of play, as is his familiarity with the Quarterbacks selected for this year. He’s a long, lean kid with good sudden quickness. His older brother Barrett Maddox Barrett Maddox 6'6" | 285 lbs | OL Clinton | 2023 State TN is a 2023 prospect with double digit offers.
David Green | Boyd Buchanan
Honestly a little surprised Green was selected as a Wide Receiver because he’s just so gifted at a number of positions. At 5-foot-8 and 155 pounds, he is an extremely aggressive athlete that makes plays at wherever he’s lined up. Spent majority of his eighth grade season as a Running Back and Outside Linebacker. With him playing Wide Receiver in this game, the playbook is wide open.
Kelvin Perkins | Havenview
Perkins is a really impressive looking 2026 prospect out of Memphis. He’s listed at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, but plays significantly bigger because of his ability to jump out of the gym. Also a member of the Class AAA State Champion basketball team, Perkins can do it all on the field. There’s film of him also lining up as a Running Back and throwing a pass. Expect some fireworks out of Perkins.
Tory Beaufort | Holston
The offensive MVP of last year’s Tennessee Future Stars 7th grade team, Beaufort is back again this year. One of the most notable differences from a year ago, Beaufort has added around 15 pounds of muscle this year. Expect him to play a pivotal role in the return game, in addition to shaking some Defensive Backs out of their jocks in the slot.
Kolby Barrett Kolby Barrett 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB Maryville | 2026 State TN | Alcoa
Another crazy talented prospect, Barrett is headed to Alcoa High School next year for high school. The rich get richer, as the Tornados finished last season 14-1 and ranked the No.10 team in the state. Barrett lined up everywhere this past season from Wide Receiver, to Wildcat Quarterback, to Running Back. At 6-foot and 175 pounds, he simply makes plays happen whenever the ball is in his hands.
Tyreek King Tyreek King 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Knox. Catholic | 2026 State TN | Knoxville Catholic
Out of all the Wide Receivers selected fore this team, King could be the best of the bunch at this point. The 5-foot-10, 150-pound standout is headed to Knoxville Catholic next year, a perennial top 25 program in the state. He played middle school ball with, and is headed to high school with, Quarterback Briggs Cherry Briggs Cherry 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Baylor | 2026 State TN , who was also selected. Expect seamless chemistry between them.
Will Pressley Will Pressley 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Oak Ridge | 2026 TN | Norris
Another athlete that is coming back for another stint on the Tennessee Future Stars is Pressley. While other Wide Receivers selected may be taller or may be faster, Pressley is arguably the most complete of the group. At 6-foot and 160 pounds, he’s been electronically timed at a 4.86 in the 40-yard dash and was the consummate big play threat all year for Norris Middle School.
Carter Booth of Germantown, and Jordan Gutierrez of West Valley, have also been selected to the squad this year. Both athletes are new to me, so I can’t honestly speak on them. I’m intrigued by Gutierrez’s size at 6-foot-1 and 172 pounds. Booth stood out at the Memphis tryout from what I’m told. Memphis is arguably the deepest tryout each year, so to shine there, he has to have ability. Time will tell.
